Good trap
By Marianna on 07/22/2016
This is exactly the style of trap that we were looking for. It has the best closing mechanism available. We ordered this trap since we had bought a similar model years ago and it works well. Our only issue is that the trap was damaged when we received it. Some of the wires were bent and broken, so we had to repair it.

Got the job done...
By David on 07/06/2018
After using other traps where the Raccoons kept stealing the bait from the sides, I found the perfect solution with a tighter mesh trap in the back of the cage. I also was pleasantly surprised to find an access hatch to load the bait at the top of the cage. I would suggest that the manufacturer put an instruction sheet on how to set the trap and lock the bait access door. I used a small screw driver to run through the top of the cage to the back edge to lock it down. As far as results, we caught two raccoons in the first week of using it. We are now trying to catch a red fox that occasionally comes around. Glad I found this trap at a very fair price.

Good overall trap
By Brian on 06/14/2019
The trap is very large and can catch just about anything. The only problem was on the second night I caught a 20 pound raccoon. They are very smart and it broke the little hatch in the back that you bait the trap. I don't know how it fit though the hole but it had 2/3 of its body out. It's hips got stuck. I just zip tied the gate back on because it got ripped off the cage.

Duke Heavy Duty Large #1114
By P on 08/08/2018
Duke #1114 is heavy gauge and the wire screen is small, whereas, the animal cannot reach through the wire screen. The one door has the largest opening (the vertical bars). There is a metal ring on each side at the top which slides down to lock the door, when the trap is set. I attached a nylon rope onto the middle of the door's vertical bars tied the door open. The racoons went in and out for the food. When they were groomed not to be afraid to enter, I set the trap. I used the rope and a horseshoe-shaped coated wire attached to the metal poles which the rings slide up and down onto. I am able to pull up the rings to open the door, using the rope and coated wire, without having to stick my fingers between the rings and cage door. I.ve trapped the mom and 3 of her babies and relocated them. Sturdy trap. With modifications it is safe and works great. :)

Good Performance w/Exceptions
By Rc on 09/21/2018
All went well with trapping a fat possum during the first use of this trap. But as for trapping the raccoon we were after; field cam showed trapped raccoon making the trap "roll". The trap eventually rolled and landed upside down which caused the trap door to become released ....and the raccoon took off leaving the trap empty. Since that event, I made some stabilizer rails and attached them to bottom of trap. Baited the trap and reset it. Caught female raccoon. Field Cam video failed to capture the trapping event. The trapped raccoon has been turned loose at a river area about 10 miles from our rural home. Hopefully she does not find her way back.

Does a great job
By Arseniy on 06/08/2019
The Trap is fairly simple, easy to use. My only complaint is that a small raccoon was able to escape from a back door, as there is no lock. I used wire to shut the back door but then I have to constantly remove the wire and put more wire to shut the back door.

Peaches saved!
By Rick on 07/26/2020
I have lost peaches for the past three years to coonThe first night I set the trap around my peach trees, my neighbor called me to let me know that three coon were hanging around the trap. When I went out to check, one coon went up the peach tree, and one was in the trap. I ran over and had to manually set the trap. I found there was a slight flaw with the trap. If a coon is small, It will not set off the trap because of it's weight. It can go in, take the bait and not set it off. If the coon is larger it never misses. I have caught 7 coon in 2 weeks and finally saved my peaches. Thanks Duke.

Country Man From Georgia
By Gary on 10/16/2020
I have only used the trap twice. The first time I used it the opossum went in and ate half the cat food and then left and must of bumped the door on the way out because the door was down but the opossum was nowhere to be found. After that I decided to adjust the moving parts to make it easier for the floor piece to spring. I also lubricated all the moving parts to make it easier to spring the trap. On the second try , lo and behold I got him. This opossum was so big, he was a keeper. You would not throw him back. One thing about Georgia, we know how to grow opossums.
