    Q
I purchased ExciteR, but my son says it didn't destroy the wasps on his porch. What happened?
What could my problem be? I suggested maybe he didn't kill the queen. Am I right?
    A
ExciteR has the active ingredient of pyrethrin. Pyrethrin must be sprayed directly on the target insects to have be effective. Once ExciteR is dry, it may have a somewhat repellent effect but all the killing power is gone. We recommend using a product that has a residual such as Cyper WP. Cyper WP is a wettable powder that you mix with water. You should spray wasp nests directly when possible and also areas where you have seen the wasps landing and walking around. Cyper WP will not offer an immediate knockdown of wasps. The wasps must land on the area that has been sprayed and then have time to succumb to the effects of the insecticide. For an immediate knockdown use Wasp Freeze to spray the wasps directly. For best results, and to lessen the chances of being stung, treat wasps nests very late in the evening or very early in the morning when the wasps are less active.

    Q
will exciter work well on termites and ground hornets?
    A
Excited would be a great product to mix in with another residual insecticide for an extra kick for most insects, however sometimes that extra knock down is not what you need for specific treatments. For ground hornets it is better to apply a dust like Tempo 1% Dust or Delta Dust to the holes with a duster. The dust gets carried through the next on the air and the wings of the insects and is better for a direct next treatment. If you were using a general insecticide spray across the whole lawn with something like Talstar, you could mix the Exciter with it for a faster kill initially, while the Talstar maintains at least a 30 continuous protection across the yard. For termites, the Exciter would actually hurt your treatment unless you were hitting an entire colony at once and spot treating every last one of them. If you are wanting to treat or prevent for Subterranean termites you would want a product like Termidor to do the trench treatment around the foundation of your home. Termidor is a transfer product that gets passed from one termite to the other through the entire colony without them ever realizing it. You can see more info in our article on How to Do A Termite Treatment. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    Q
Can I mix Invade Bio Foam with ExciteR Insecticide for drain and septic tank system?
I have a fruit fly fly problem.
    A
We would not recommend to apply ExciteR into drains. Invade Bio foam works great eliminating orgainc material that can attract drain flies. To treat for fruit flies please see out Fruit Fly Control page.

    Q
Is ExciteR Insecticide a good choice for a concentrate to eliminate a wasp nest?
What spray that is in a concentrated form, not aerosol, would be best?
    A

There are not a lot of options that we typically recommend as a contact kill in a concentrated form that you would put in a pump sprayer. Most nest eliminating products would be in the form of an aerosol to kill that nest instantly. Or if the nest is in an eave of a home using a dust like Tempo 1% Dust is always a great way to get the wasps to carry the product back to the nest as well. For a contact kill only in a concentrated form, you would go with something like ExciteR Pyrethrin Concentrate. You could then follow up the nest areas around the home with a residual like Tempo SC Ultra or Cyonara 9.7 to help keep them from being a continuous problem throughout the season.

    Q
How long does an Exciter solution remains effective after application to a wooden surface?
How often should an Exciter solution be re-applied?
    A

ExciteR Insecticide is designed as a contact kill and is active when it is wet. Once the application is dry, there will very little residual effect, if any. Since this is a contact and flushing agent, you would use ExciteR as needed, and the best reapplication timing will depend on what pest you are treating.

    Q
Does ExciteR Insecticide eradicate Eriophyid mites?
Does this eradicate mites? How much should i use per gallon if so?
    A

No ExciteR Insecticide  is not labeled for eriophyid mites.  Successfully treating for eriophyid mites requires using a miticide or insecticide effective against eriophyid mites, such as Avid Miticide  or Sevin Concentrate.

    Q
Which ratio of ExciteR to water do I use for oriental rugs?
To protect oriental carprets from moths and other insectos, wich is the radio mixtue ( chemical and water)
    A

Keep in mind that ExciteR Insecticide is a knockdown prouct, so it is only active while it is wet. Per the product label, for carpet beetles:

To control carpet beetles (black, furniture and varied), dilute 4.25 fluid ounces of ExciteR per gallon of water and apply to the entire carpet at the rate of 1 gallon per 750 square feet. Make localized applications under the edge of carpets, floor coverings, and furniture as well as along baseboards, in closets and to infested areas of shelving.

    For webbing clothes moths:

To control Clothes Moths, remove infested articles from storage, brush them thoroughly and air-dry them in sunlight for several hours. Dilute 2.125 fluid ounces of ExciteR per gallon of water and apply as a crack and crevice treatment to empty chests, bureaus and storage sites. After airing, infested articles may be lightly treated with the spray solution (keep the nozzle at least three feet from the fabric to avoid staining).

    Q
What is the best insecticide to add to ExciteR to give long last results to deal with ants?
    A

You could apply just about any residual insecticide with ExciteR Insecticide. For general insect prevention, you could use it with Tempo SC Ultra, which is a good general insecticide. Another option would be to use a product that already has two active ingredients in it. Temprid FX is like Tempo SC (beta-cyfluthrin) plus a non-repellent (imidacloprid) in one product. So you are getting the initial kill plus a longer residual, and the residual product has some transfer effect which is extra helpful when treating social insects like ants. Keep in mind that ExciteR is really used for quick knockdown at the time of application. We have more tips about ant control in our online Guide here.

    Q
Is ExciteR Insecticide similar to Bonide Termite and Carpenter Ant Killer?
    A

ExciteR Insecticide is a professional grade liquid concentrate which contains natural pyrethrin plus PBO (a synergist) for quick kill and flushing of a wide variety of insect pests. It can be used on its own, but it is also often used as an additive to other residual insecticides for faster knockdown. Bonide Termite and Carpenter Ant Killer is a ready-to-use aerosol containing S-bioallethrin and Deltamethrin. This is more of an over-the-counter strength product. Please let us know if you need assistance selecting a product for the pest(s) you are targeting.

    Q
How long will it to take springtails to die after treatment?
I sprayed ExciteR mixed with Suspend Polyzone into my window sills and they are still alive walking around in the liquid 3 hours later. How long will it take to see a reduction?
    A

Insects sprayed directly with ExciteR Insecticide should die within a few hours depending on the rate it was applied at along with the Suspend Polyzone.  After the initial application ExciteR does not leave a residual and dissipates and Polyzone does not kill on contact.  Once the area dries it can take a few hours up to 24 or more for insects that contact a treated area to die.

    Q
What is the difference between Riptide and ExciteR? It looks like they both have different active ingredients.
    A

Riptide and ExciteR have the same active ingredients (although in different amounts) and are similar in nature but have different formulations.  Riptide 5.0% Pyrethrin ULV is specifically formulated for use in foggers and misting systems. It is recommended that ExciteR be mixed with an insecticide because it is a synergist. It is used to make a product work faster to kill insects. It can be used as a stand alone product for a quick knockdown as well.  Both of these products will only kill insects while they are wet, so once the product has dried, there is no residual left behind.
