    Can Ferti-lome Tree and Shrub Systemic Insect Drench be used on Elm trees for Elm Seed Beetles?
    We have an infestation of elm seed beetles (not leaf beetles). Our small Motel has been fighting them for quite awhile in Southwest Idaho. We just moved here in November and have had them all winter indoors. Guests think they are cockroaches, not native to Idaho, or bedbugs- they panic. For me, the worst part is that my log home on the property is showing signs of infestation (we find at least 20 beetles a day, and have woken up with them in our bed). I just found your product while looking for an outdoor lawn insecticide and am feeling incredibly hopeful. Will this prevent the bugs from breeding in our giant elms? We will also be treating the yard, interior and exterior of our buildings. My hope is to prevent them from returning as we destroy the living.

    What is the mix rate of Ferti-lome Tree and Shrub Systemic Insect Drench? Can I use the entire bottle in one gallon of water and pour on the tree then water it in and have it still work>

    Per the label, You will mix 1 oz of Fertilome Tree & Shrub Insect Drench per inch of distance around the tree trunk. Because the product is an insecticide, it likely will not hurt a non flowering tree. We suggest adding lots of water to try to balance the product to water ratio.  Please consult the product label for complete application instructions.

    Using Ferti-lome Tree and Shrub Systemic Insect Drench with flowers nearby
    Can I still apply this to my trees even with blue daze flowers underneath them? The flowers are all within the area I would be applying to. The same thing with my shrubs. There are other flowers nearby. I just don't want to kill the other plants.

    Ferti-lome Tree and Shrub Systemic Insect Drench should only be applied as directed to listed ornamental trees and shrubs only and avoid areas with flowers.

    Is Ferti-lome Tree and Shrub Systemic Insect Drench able to be used on fruit trees? Is this applied once a year or when is it best to apply? Will this harm pollinators like bees?

    Fertilome Tree & Shrub Insect Drench  is for use on outdoor trees and shrubs including listed fruit and nut trees: Apple, Loquat, Oriental Pear, Crabapple, Mayhaw Pear, Pecan, and Quince. One soil drench treatment per year during early spring to early fall is recommended for a preventative treatment program before insect damage occurs.

    Fertilome Tree & Shrub Insect Drench does take time to absorb depending on the size of the plant or tree. This can range from one week to 3 months for full absorbtion. Soil drench applications should be be done 2-3 months before the expected pest infestation you are targeting.

    Please contact your local cooperative extension office to determine the correct timing of the application for your specific area.

    Pollinator Safety Information
    Please view the Protection of Pollinators Section of the product label on page 3 that advises on the risks of using this product as well as steps to take to minimize exposure of this product to bees and other pollinators.

    Can I apply tree and shrub insect drench to my idahoensis locust, apple and pears before the blossoms come out?

    Fertilome Tree and Shrub Systemic Insect Drench is labeled for drenching apple and pear trees. Please refer to the product label for specific application instructions. We recommend contacting the manufacturer (VPG- 888.583.5296) for more information on other types of trees.

    It is late June, we have beetle leaf damage from strawberry root weevil beetles. What do you recommend?
    Is this appropriate time for drench & should we use a foliage spray in addition. Lilac, holly, rose & wigelia w/ vinca groundcover at base.

    Please contact your local cooperative extension office to determine the correct timing of the application as this will vary greatly from region to region. 

    If you have a current infestation we would recommend a foliar spray with a product like Bifen IT.

    I applied Fertilome Tree and Shrub Systemic Insect Drench on all our shrubs, but insect still appeared on 2 of the shrubs.
    Can I re-apply to these two shrubs?

    Is the Fertilome Tree and Shrub Systemic Insect Drench effective for Mimosa web Worm?
    Is the Fertilome tree & shrub control effective for Mimosa web worm control? Searches keep referring me to this product, but I do not see that particular pest listed. My garden store folks sold be a container of the product for. My golden locust tree, couldn't find yah info when I read the label prior to administration of the product.

    The Fertilome Tree and Shrub Systemic Insect Drench will not affect webworms. This is because a systemic insecticide of any form will not work for these types of insects. You would need to use a foliar spray to control them like the Fertilome Borer, Bagworm, Tent Caterpillar & Leaf Miner Spray.  Complete instructions can be found on page 12 of the product label.

    Fertilome Tree and Shrub Systemic Insect Drench is not labeled for aphids. We do carry Adonis 2F that is a a systemic control and will work through the root zone to treat aphids.

    Fertilome Tree and Shrub Systemic Insect Drench  is not specifically labeled for webworms. It is labeled for leafhoppers and leafbeetles. You would need to use a foliar spray to control them like the Fertilome Borer, Bagworm, Tent Caterpillar & Leaf Miner Spray. The dilution would be 2 ounces per gallon of water and reapplication times with vary with the type of plant you are treating on. You can refer to the product label for your exact needs.

    Will Fertilome Tree and Shrub Systemic kill pecan mites?
    The mites produce yellowing of the leaves and secrete the sticky dew that drops on house and vehicles.

    No, Fertilome Tree and Shrub Systemic Insect Drench is not labeled for pecan mites.

    We would recommend using Fertilome Triple Action for mites. It is an insecticide, miticide and fungicide all in one. This can be used up until the day of harvest. You will use this every 14 days as needed.

    Yes, Fertilome Tree and Shrub Systemic Insect Drench is labeled to eliminate soft and armoured scale. You will use 1 fl oz per inch of the trunk diameter. This can be done once a year.

    Is Fertilome Tree and Shrub Systemic Insect Drench effective against crabapple scab?

    Fertilome Tree and Shrub Systemic Insect Drench is going to provide insect control but not disease control. We do carry Fertilome Liquid Systemic Fungicide II,which is labeled to control scab on non-fruiting crabapple trees.  It is applied at 1/2 TBSP (1/4 fl oz) per gallon of water and applied every 14 days when buds begin to break open. Please refer to the product label for complete application instructions.

    Is Fertilome Tree and Shrub Systemic Insect Drench effective for zimmerman moths on Austrian pines?
    A

    Fertilome Tree and Shrub Systemic Insect Drench is not labeled for zimmerman moths, only pine tip moth larvae.  Zimmerman pine moth is most vulnerable to controls when larvae are active and exposed on the bark in spring and late summer,  You will want to fully drench the bark as much as you can on the trees with a product like Tengard SFR.  Mid April or so is the best time to apply a product to the trees to try and catch the immature life stages for the best control.  You can do this periodically throughout the season but early spring/summer and late fall are the best times to see results and save the trees.

    Can I overtreat a greenspire linden tree with Fertilome Tree and Shrub Systemic Insect Drench?
    As in mixing it stronger or treating it more often?

    Fertilome Tree and Shrub Systemic Insect Drench should only be applied as directed on the label for rates and frequency.  Using stronger or more often does not make it work better.  It can take time for a plant to absorb the product depending on the age and health and size.

    Will Fertilome Tree and Shrub Systemic Insect Drench work on Aspen with poplar borers?

    The active ingredient Imidacloprid in Fertilome Tree and Shrub Systemic Insect Drench has not been shown to be effective in controlling this type of borer.  Monthly treatments with something like Permethrin SFR can help control adults and small larvae.  There are great articles here and here that might also help

    The Fertilome Tree and Shrub Systemic Insect Drench label says to use 2 gal. of water if the circumference is more than 50 feet. Shouldn't that be 50 inches?

    Per the Fertilome Tree and Shrub Systemic Insect Drench product label on Page 4, "For trees with circumference greater than 50’, use 2 gallons of water".
