    Q
How well does Fertilome Weed Free Zone work on wild onion in lawns?
I live in upstate South Carolina and the wild onion is in full growth due to the mild winter we are having. Is there a better product to eliminate wild onion?
    A
Fertilome Weed Free Zone will work well on wild onion in lawn species listed on the product label. Be sure to apply the product to the weeds during a time when the wild onion will be susceptible to herbicides, you may want to contact your local cooperative extension office and speak to the master gardener on staff to determine timing as it will vary from region to region

    Q
Ferti-lome Weed Free Zone vs Weed Out Lawn Weed Killer Concentrate
Which works best on warm season grasses like St Augustine? Have more broadleaf issues than grassy weed. Have used Surflan AS and just not sure what will work best. Hmmm. Appreciate your insight.
    A

Ferti-lome Weed Free Zone would be the best option if you are just dealing with broadleaf weeds.  Surflan AS is a pre-emergent only so will only prevent weeds from germinating, it does not do anything for actively growing weeds.

  • Asked by Mark from Industry, Texas
    02/06/2019
    Q
Can I apply Ferti-lome Weed Free Zone to winter weeds in dormant grasses in very early spring?
I have both common Bermuda and St. Augustine grass. The Bermuda grass is dormant and the St. Augustine is semi-dormant (fairly green but not growing). Will my grasses be at least reasonably safe if I spray at this time before the grasses resume growing in the active season? The ground is moist because of lots of rain in the winter, and the winter weeds are very actively growing.
    A

Ferti-lome Weed Free Zone cannot be applied to St. Augustine grass during spring green-up (which is the transition period between dormancy and active growth).  As long as the St Augustine parts of the lawn are not in this stage it would be safe to use this product on the entire lawn.

  • Asked by Bill from Norwalk
    04/22/2017
    Q
If I mix a gallon of Fertilome Weed Free Zone and don't use it all that day, how long can I store what is left over?
    A

When using Fertilome Weed Free Zone or any similar herbicides, we recommend only mixing what you plan to use right away. You should not store diluted product in your spray tank as this will cause the active ingredients to break down, and it may cause damage to your sprayer. We would recommend using diluted product within 24 hours of mixing.
