    Can I apply Ferti-lome Weed Free Zone to winter weeds in dormant grasses in very early spring?
    I have both common Bermuda and St. Augustine grass. The Bermuda grass is dormant and the St. Augustine is semi-dormant (fairly green but not growing). Will my grasses be at least reasonably safe if I spray at this time before the grasses resume growing in the active season? The ground is moist because of lots of rain in the winter, and the winter weeds are very actively growing.

    Ferti-lome Weed Free Zone cannot be applied to St. Augustine grass during spring green-up (which is the transition period between dormancy and active growth).  As long as the St Augustine parts of the lawn are not in this stage it would be safe to use this product on the entire lawn.

    What is the mixture ratio for concentrated Fertilome Weed Free Zone?
    If I remember correctly approx. 1 to 2 capfuls per 5 gallons of water was the mixture

    The amount you would use will be dependent on the turf you are treating on. According to the label it will vary for warm and cool season grasses and they range from 0.75-2 ounces per 1000 sq/ft in no less than 1 gallon of water. Please see the Product Label for exact instructions for your lawn type and treatment areas. Let us know if you have any other questions.

    Have gilmore 362 hose end sprayer. Fertilome weed free zone sates to use 2 oz per 1000 ft.
    What seting do I use?

    We apologize but we are not familiar with the Gilmore hose end sprayer that you have. That being said normally hose end sprayers are not recommended for use of herbicides as there is no way to accurately know when you have put down the correct amount of product over the correct amount of area with that unit. You can try setting it at 1oz per gallon and use 2 gallons per 1000 sq/ft.

    Can Southern AG Vantage Grass Killer be mixed with Fertilome Weed Free Zone for application purposes?
    I have a centipede lawn and they both work well I'm just curios to know if they can be combined and administered simultaneously. Thanks

    We would not recommend tank mixing Fertilome Weed Free Zone with Southern Ag Vantage Grass Killer. Fertilome Weed Free Zone does not have label instructions for tank mixing combinations and tank mixing Grass Killer with some postemergence broadleaf herbicides has shown some reduction or failure to control some grassy weeds that would otherwise be controlled.

    What will kill sandspur in Fescue?
    A
    Fertilome Weed Free Zone is not labeled for eradicating sandspur. You should apply Barricade as a pre-emergent (check with your Master Gardener at your local cooperative extension office for correct timing). Hi-Yield 2, 4-D Selective Weed Killer can be applied to established lawns for post emergent applicaton. Please refer to the product label for instructions on mixing and application.

    Can I mix Weed Free Zone with Accel spreader sticker in a hose end sprayer (undiluted)?
    A

    When mixing products together in a hose end sprayer you must use products that have the same dilution rates or separate applications would be recommended. Weed Free Zone may be used in a hose end sprayer as long as your sprayer has the proper dilution setting. However, we are unsure as to whether you may mix the Accel Spreader Sticker with the Weed Free Zone in the hose end sprayer because we do not know the mixing rate for the Accel.

    You do not want to water the lawn (or receive any rainfall) within 24 hours of the application of Fertilome Weed Free Zone.

    Will Fertilome Weed Free Zone kill the other ground cover?
    There are Lilac Trees in the same area will it hurt them? There is other ground cover in the same area where the Chinese Clover is trying to take over.

    Fertilome Weed Free Zone should only be applied to listed established turgrasses on the product label. It is not suggest to use in areas with desired groundcover.

    Must I water in Fertilome Weed Free Zone with a hose after the initial application?

    Fertilome Weed Free Zone can be applied with a pump sprayer or a hose end sprayer.  You should not water this product in after application. In fact, do not apply if rainfall is expected within 4 hours as it may lessen its effectiveness.

    Yes, Ferti-lome Weed Free Zone should be diluted at the rate of 1.5-2 oz. per gallon of water and applied with a hand pump or backpack sprayer.

    Can Ferti-lome Weed Free Zone be used on new fescue?
    A

    Ferti-lome Weed Free Zone can safely be applied to tall fescue and red fescue turf. This product cannot be applied to newly seeded lawns until after the second mowing, so that it will be well established and will not be harmed.

    Can Weed Free Zone be applied on a the same as I mowed?

     Normally when applying Ferti-lome Weed Free Zone or any type of herbicide you want to delay mowing at least 2-3 days before putting down the product, and then 2-3 days after as well to give the grass full time to absorb the application.
