Fertilome Weed Free Zone product label states it should not be applied onto vegetables, flowers, ornamental plants, shrubs, trees, and other desirable plants since injury may result.
Weeds that have been treated with Ferti-lome Weed Free Zone would need to be completely dead before pulling, which may take up to 2-6 weeks and may require additional treatments if mature.
Ferti-lome Weed Free Zone is safe to apply to newly sodded lawns that have been mowed at least twice, or 4 weeks has passed since the sod was put down.
Ferti-lome Weed Free Zone can safely be applied to centipede grass as directed on the label. It could harm azaleas. We’d recommend spot treating around azaleas.
A surfactant increases the absorption, translocation and sticking of insecticides, herbicides, fungicides and liquid fertilizers on plants. Many weeds have a waxy cuticle on the leaves/foliage/stem surfaces that will affect the herbicide application from aborbing thoroughly, the surfactant works as a “sticking agent” to prevent that.
Ferti-lome Weed Free Zone does not mention the use of a surfactant on the product label so we would not recommend to use one. Not all herbicides require a surfactant as they can already contain a slight amount or adding one could reduce selectivity on turf and injure your grass.
Ferti-lome Weed Free Zone is safe when used as directed and pets and people are out of the area during application. Treated areas are safe to return once dry, typically after 4-6 hours.
Fertilome Weed Free Zone will not harm Kentucky Bluegrass, Perennial Ryegrass, Tall Fescue, Red Fescue, Colonial Bentgrass, Common Bermuda Grass, Hybrid Bermuda Grass, Bahia Grass, Zoysia Grass, Buffalo Grass, St. Augustine and Centipede Grasses if used as directed.
The Fertilome Weed Free Zone is labled for pepperweed and will cover a wide variety of other broadleaf weeds as well. See the instructions in the product label for mixing rates.
Fertilome Weed Free Zone is a liquid concentrate, so you will need to mix it with water and apply with a hand pump sprayer. You will mix at the rate of 1.5 oz - 2 oz. per gallon of water per 1,000 sq. ft. Please see the product label for complete application instructions for the specific weeds you need to treat.
The product label states that you can reseed areas 2 weeks after application of Fertilome Weed Free Zone.
Fertilome Weed Free Zone should be applied when it is not raining and when there is not any rainfall/irrigation within 24 hours of application.
Fertilome Weed Free Zone can be applied to newly seeded lawns after the 2nd mowing so that is it well established and will not be harmed.
Fertilome Weed Free Zone may harm desirable bushes if contact is made with the foliage. While it may not kill the entire tree, it could kill the leaves sprayed and those branches may need to be removed.
Fertilome Weed Free Zone is applied at 1.5 oz - 2 oz. per gallon of water per 1,000 sq. ft.
Fertilome Weed Free Zone is applied at the rate of 1.5-2 oz. per 1000 sq.ft. in 1-2 gallons of water. The water is merely the carrier to get the chemical evenly distributed over the lawn so whether that takes 1 gallon of water per 1000 sq.ft., or 4 gallons of water per 1000 sq.ft., both are correct so long as you are getting the right amount of weed free zone over that area.
