    Q
If my cat eats a roach that's been affected by Gentrol, will the cat get sick?
    A
The chance of secondary poisoning from a cat eating a roach that has been in contact with Gentrol is very, very slim. The cats would have to lots and lots of dead roaches in a very short period of time to be effected. Plus, once diluted there is only enough active ingredient to kill small pest.

  • Asked by Vince from Miami, Fl

    Q
If I use an insecticide mixed with Gentrol IGR, wouldn't the insect die from the insecticide? What is the need for the growth inhibitor if the bug will die from the insecticide?
    A

Most residual concentrates do not kill the insecticides instantly, this allows the Gentrol IGR Concentrate to effectively break the insect life cycle and offer 120 days of control.

    Q
Can Gentrol IGR be sprayed around roach bait gel?
    A

Gentrol IGR is not recommended to applied directly to areas where roach bait gel is present. Please keep in mind that Gentrol spreads out from its point of application. This means that the roach does not have to come in direct contact with the Gentrol in order for it to work.

    Q
What would happen if a kid licked some of the liquid of Gentrol IGR?
    A

Children should be out of the area during treatment until dry when using Gentrol IGR.  When used as directed children should not come into contact with a treated surface while it is wet and the product is only meant to work with insects. The MSDS has further information on safety and does not list any toxicity issues. You can also check directly with your doctor or the manufacturer if this has happened and there are concerns. Zoecon can be reached at 800-877-6374.

Can I use Gentrol with Maxforce Fc for roaches? I've been only using the Maxforce and it doesn't seem to be working.

Yes, Gentrol would be the missing component. Gentrol will break down the reproductive cycle. Please continue to bait once a week.

    Q
Will Gentrol IGR Concentrate work for bird mites? What can I use?
    A

Gentrol IGR Concentrate is not labeled for bird mites. We have had several customers tell us that they have successfully used Onslaught and NyGuard IGR together for bird mite control. Unfortunately, because neither product is actually labeled for bird mites, we cannot give you a definitive answer on what IGR would be best for them.

  • Asked by Jessica from Slc, Ut

    Q
Will Gentrol IGR Concentrate harm house plants?
I have a fruit fly infestation and they are breeding in the soil of my house plants! Would I be able to just apply it to the soil?
    A

Gentrol is a product used to sterilize fruit flies. This means it will keep them from reproducing, it is not a product that will kill adult fruit flies. It should not be applied to houseplants. It doesn't sound like you are experiencing fruit flies, if they are solely in the houseplants. Fungus gnats can be confused as a fruit fly and are harmless to humans.  The fungus gnat larvae can damage the plant root system as they feed on organic matter.

Fungus gnat control is fairly simple:

    • The easiest way to get rid of gnats in the home is to let your soil dry out completely in between waterings, both indoors and out. Lack of moisture is the natural gnat killer; the larvae cannot survive in dry conditions. Overwatering or constantly damp soil is the perfect environment for fungus gnats.
    • We recommend drenching the soil with a pesticide formulated for gnats or flying insects, like Talstar P to kill gnat larvae.
    • An aerosol gnat repellent spray containing pyrethrin like Mircocare aerosol can kill existing adult gnats in the area.
    • Sometimes fungus gnats enter a home because of a leaky pipe in a wall void or water leaks around windows and doors. Using sticky gnat traps can help you locate the source of the fungus gnats, and when located, try to dry out and seal those damp areas.

Can I mix Gentrol, Demon wp and Tempo SC ultra together in a 1 gallon sprayer?

  • Asked by Lori from West Palm Beach, Fl.

    Q
    Flea outbreak
Is Gentrol ok to use for fleas along with demon wp in a pump sprayer? I have a serious outbreak and have literally tried everything but the little babies keep popping up. My dog is on Frontline Plus and Comfortis with an Adams flea collar and still we have the little buggers. HELP!
    A
Gentrol IGR is not actually labeled to treat for fleas and Demon WP is not labeled to be used in the areas indoors that you would need to treat to eliminate fleas.  Demon WP is only labeled for spraying on cracks and crevices and baseboard areas so it would not be appropriate or flea control indoors. We would recommend our Indoor Flea Kit which provides you with the necessary components to completely eliminating fleas in your home the most efficient way. We also have a video on that page that and in our "Learn Videos" tab that shows you step by step how to use the products.

  • Asked by Ken from St Cloud
    11/10/2017
    Q
Should I use Gentrol Concentrate first for roach control?
When one has German roaches, my understanding is that you apply gentrol and wait 10-14 days to allow the sterilant to halt reproduction before you commence baiting. Baiting before that seems counter intuitive in my mind. You don't want to kill off the carriers before you've exposed the whole colony. Is my logic flawed?
    A

When dealing with an active infestation of roaches, we recommending using a roach bait gel, a residual insecticide, and an IGR altogether for best results. Each of these products attacks the infestation in different ways, and since roaches reproduce very quickly and require very little food and water to thrive, you want to come at the infestation with everything you have for fastest results. Keep in mind, too, that most of the roaches in a structure are out of site, so the population is much bigger than just what you see. We recommend taking a few moments to review our Roach Treatment Guide for more tips. We also sell all these products together in our Roach Control Kits. Please let us know if you have further questions.

Can I mix Gentrol with Talstar and Essentria IC 3 all together?

Gentrol IGR Concentrate can be mixed with any insecticide.  However, you would not mix 2 insecticides such as Talstar P and Essentria IC3 together.  You would use one or the other along with the Gentrol.
