    Is Gentrol Point Source good for carpet beetles?
    A
    Yes. According to the manufacturer Gentrol Point Source is effective for carpet beetles. The disc contains the Gentrol Insect Growth Regulator (IGR) hydroprene for 90-day control of roaches and other stored product pests, like carpet beetles. Activating Gentrol Point Source is as simple as squeezing the raised end of the plastic disc. This releases Gentrol IGR onto a filter paper. From there, it moves up to 75 square feet, damaging pests and preventing them from reproducing.

    How many Gentrol Point Source would I need to use to treat a standard pantry cabinet?
    I understand it will treat 75 sqft but wouldn't I need cubic feet?
    A

    Typically you would use 3-4 Gentrol Point Source in a kitchen, but one would be enough for just in the pantry.  It will spread up to 75 sqft from where it is placed.

    Does using air cleaning HEPA filter units in all the rooms of my home affect the effectiveness of the discs?
    A
    No, Gentrol Point Sources emit off vapors to stop the pests life cycle. HEPA filters collect dust, bugs and dirt. They both do two different things.

    Is Gentrol Point Source safe to use with a pet bird in the house?
    A

    Since birds are very sensitive, we cannot advise that you apply Gentrol Point Source  in any area birds may be in. Please contact your vet to see what chemicals would be safe to use in the bird areas.

    Where can Gentrol Point Source be used? How about animal shelters and zoos?
    A
    You can use Gentrol Point Source almost anywhere, especially sensitive accounts, such as food handling establishments, animal shelters and zoos. It is also commonly used around sensitive electrical equipment such as computers and case registers. Please refer to the label for additional application sites.

    Can I place Gentrol Point Sources near bait stations if I am using them by themselves?
    If i use the gentrol by itself instead of using it with spray can i place it near bait stations

    Gentrol Point Sources should be used where there is roach activity. There is not a problem placing these point sources near bait. The ideal places include cabinets, closets, pantries, drawers, refuse areas, electrical boxes, equipment, false ceilings, and around doors, expansion joints, pipe chases, dressers, windows, heating and air conditioning ducts, refrigerators, and voids where pests are active.

    Would Gentrol Point Source work inside a wall?
    If I remove an unused electrical switch from the wall and place a Gentrol disc inside, and then cover the hole back up, will that work to control roaches living behind the drywall?

    The Gentrol Point Source is designed to work in areas such as open rooms, closets, or cabinets, where the active ingredient vapor can move throughout the space. We would not recommend trying to use the Gentrol Point Source inside a wall void. You could apply an insecticide dust such as CimeXa Insecticide Dust into wall voids for long-lasting control of roaches in this area. Please see our Roach Treatment Guide for more information about treating for this pest.

    Is Gentrol Point Source harmful to my cats?
    I just put these but and my cat is acting weird. I cant tell if he's just tried or what. Is it harmful for them to breath in. He hasnt gotten a hold on a disc.

    According to the Gentrol Point Source MSDS "Due to the unique nature of the product form, acute toxicity hazards are not anticipated". This means that unless the cats actually get a hold of the disc and eat the vial inside before it is crushed, there would be no concern that they would ingest enough product to cause any type of toxicity issues. The vapors are only going to harm an insect not mammals.

    I am currently using Advion Gel all over my 360 sq ft apartment along with 10 Gentrol discs and Ortho Home def
    My German Roach infestation was never large but I think I brought it home in produce a couple years ago.Before that I hadn't seen roaches.I am currently using Advion Gel all over my 360 sq ft apartment along with 10 Gentrol discs,Boric Acid everywhere my cat can't get too and Ortho Home Defense along perimeter baseboards.I have discontinued cooking meals and drinking water at home for the last week and have seen many dead roaches.I have decreased clutter and moved pretty much everything out of my cupboards into garbage cans that ive sealed with duct tape. I am no longer seeing babies and still see about 1-2 roaches a day.I know there can be eggs still to hatch so what else can I do to fortify my attack?I can only really use methods that wont harm my cat but if need be I can move him some where else.Is there anything or anymore preemptive strikes I can utilize.I have a coupon Laborbugs5 can you get back to me before it expires please.

    First, be sure not to spray where you are baiting. Understand that it is a process and takes many weeks. You want to continue to bait with Advion once a week. Here are a few quick tips for roach control. Also, if possible put the cat food up at night. This will increase the attractiveness of the roaches to the bait.

    Will using Point Source in a Welcome Center with Reptiles and Insects on display hurt them?
    We have turtles, frogs, walking sticks, Luna Moth larvae pupating and crickets all for observation. Will Point Source hurt any of them? We are eliminating mealy moth infestation from birdseed)

    Gentrol Point Source contains a juvenile growth hormone mimic that retards the growth of certain insects. Gentrol Point Source does not contain any type of poison and should not have any effect on the reptiles, frogs, or turtles but could have an effect on the Luna Moth Larvae and crickets.

    Will Gentrol Point Source make crickets non-consumable for my pet reptile?
    I have Gentrol Point Source but I also have a reptile that eats crickets and I wanted to keep a supply of them on hand. Will the IGR make them non consumable for my pet since the IGR doesn't need to come in direct contact with insect to affect them? I have the one that looks like a birth control pill holder.

    How does Gentrol Point Source disperse? Do insects have to touch it?
    A

    When a Gentrol Point Source capsule is opened, it releases the active ingredient in microscopic particles that actually fly through the air. As these particles float through the air they land on the listed insects causing growth abnormalities. Target pests do not need to contact the device directly since the active ingredient moves into a localized area.

    Once a roach leaves the are where the gentrol covers, will the effects carry with them or do they need to stay inside the coverage area for it to work?

    Gentrol Point Source spreads like a vapor up to 75 sqft from where it has been placed, as long as a young roach has come into contact with the area it is in they will be affected, even if they leave the area.  They do not have to stay in the area.

    Can you put down Gentrol Point Source along with Gentrol Concentrate?
    Had an exterminator treat our townhouse for German cockroaches. He said that he uses Gentrol in his mixture, and I want to know if using the Point control would hinder the original application via sprayer. Is too much a bad thing and will repel the cockroaches and stop them from taking the bait that the exterminator put down.

    There would be no added benefit of using the Gentrol Point Source if the Gentrol IGR Concentrate has been applied.  It would not repel them from an area, but it would just be a waste of product since they work the same way.

    It is not recommended to use Gentrol Point Source inside an air vent.  We would suggest applying it along with a roach bait right outside of the vent.

    No, Gentrol Point Sources are not harmful to individuals or pets when used on the side of a refrigerator. It is recommended that you keep them out of reach of pets/children.

    Does Gentrol Point Source work on spiders?
    A

    Neither Gentrol Point Source or any other IGR on the market will stop the reproductive cycle of spiders. You will just need to spray diligently with spider control insecticides in areas they would harbor.
