Gentrol Point Source is not labeled for carpet beetles. However, Gentrol IGR Aerosol and Gentrol IGR Concentrate are both labeled for Dermestid beetles and carpet beetles are a type of Dermestid. You should use Gentrol with an insecticide spray to help eliminate the infestation. • Asked by Marcos from Lakeland
    03/17/2018
    Q
What are considered "Pantry Pests" on the Gentrol Point Source label? Are ants included?
I have an ant problem at my new rental location. Will this work against those ants?
    A

The stored pantry pests referred to on the Gentrol Point Source label include the red, confused flour and merchant beetles, ants are not on the label. Our ?Indoor Ant Kit? would help cover the ants dietary needs of sugar and protein, as well as an insecticide you can spray around baseboards, cracks, crevices and any other entry points including under the kitchen sink. We also have a great Ant Treatment Guide that can help guide you to effectively get rid of these ants.

    Q
I used Gentrol concentrate for bed bugs, but would like to follow up with Gentrol Point Source. Will I get the same results?
    A

Gentrol Point Source is not labeled for bed bugs unfortunately. If you would like to continue using an IGR then you would need to continue using Gentrol IGR Concentrate.  It is the only IGR labeled for bed bugs.

    Q
Will Gentrol Point Source disks disrupt the life cycle of the fruit fly?
I bought the Point Source to deal with a roach problem and make sure to keep them gone. Now I realize that I have a fruit fly/ gnat infestation. Will the point source disks disrupt the life cycle of the fruit fly or do I have to buy the liquid now to control the fruit fly infestation? I already have fruit fly traps set up and have cleaned up everything. I take the trash out daily and make sure the dishes are done. I have also poured fruit fly killer down my drains since I am pretty sure they are in the drains. I just want to make sure they can't reproduce.
    A

Gentrol Point Source will not aid in control of fruit flies. It is imperative that you identify and remove the source of the infestation, and continue using traps to catch the adult flies. Gentrol Aerosol is a great choice for an IGR for fruit fly control.

  • Asked by Stephanie from Tampa, Fl

    Q
Are Gentrol Point Source Stations safe for babies crawling on the floor and putting toys in their mouth?
I have placed several Gentrol Point Source disks in the kitchen, the playroom (not within reach of children), under a bookshelf, and a couch. I am worried about the product getting onto the toys and one of the babies putting the toys in their mouth, or crawling on the floor and putting their hands in their mouth.
    A

The vapors from the Gentrol Point Source Stations will not affect your child if they are crawling in the area in which they have been placed. Also, the product does not contain any type of poison, so it will not harm the child if they place any of the toys in their mouth. When used as labeled, the product does not pose any threats to pets or people in the home.

  • Asked by Mike from Clearwater Fl

    Q
Is Gentrol Point Source safe to use around my breeding parrots?
    A

Birds are highly sensitive to products so we are unsure of any negative impact the Gentrol Point Source may have on them. In general, the ingredient in Gentrol is only designed to target the juvenile growth hormone found specifically in insects, and not in other animals/mammals. We would recommend that you contact the manufacturer Zoecon directly at 925-948-4000 or a bird specialist/vet before using.

  • Asked by Courtney from Roseville, Ca
    04/01/2021
    Q
Can Gentrol Point Source be used outdoors if it's kept out of the sun?
I need to control a cockroach problem outside and want the least toxic option available. Gentrol seems to be that and I like the idea of the point source instead of spraying my entire yard. Can I put the stations outside and just keep them out of the sun? Why can't you use it outside? Is it because of the photosensitivity or something else like not concentrating enough because of more airflow? Also, I have an organic garden. If the cockroaches die in the soil will the active ingredient be absorbed into the soil and effect my plants being truly organic?
    A

Gentrol Point Source is only labeled to be used indoors for roaches and would not be effective to treat roaches outdoors nor will it eradicate roaches if used by itself. This product only inhibits the growth cyle and stops immature stages of roaches from developing into adults. An insecticide like Temprid FX would be recommended to use indoors as well as outdoors for effective roach control. For roaches outdoors, we would suggest using NyGuard IGR with Temprid FX for the exterior periemter foundation of the home, around windows, doors and other entry points. For insects in edible gardens, Pyganic Gardening would be a good choice.

The Gentrol Point Source discs, when activated release the insect growth regulator active ingredient through the filter paper that will disperse over a 75 sq ft area. These work best when used on top of refridgerators, cabinets, shelves, etc where the vapor can bounce off the ceiling to thoroughly cover the area/room.

This slow release vapor is not harmful to humans or animals.

    Q
    How long to continue treatment?
Hello, About 8 weeks ago, I saw an adult roach. Then 3 weeks later, 1 nymph. A few days ago I bought Advion gel and Gentrol Point Source and applied it in some of the rooms. My baby and I live in a 650 sq feet apartment. 1) How long do we need to continue the Advion gel and Gentrol for? 2) Should we change the Advion gel every 2 weeks? 3) Should we place Gentrol/Advion in every room even though we do not see activity in some rooms? 4) When should we start cooking again? We've stopped this past week because we really want these roaches to be dead. 5) How many Gentrol discs should we be using? Does it affect the adults? (I've read varying where they prematurely lay eggs and eggs do not hatch ... is that true?) 6) How many days can we typically expect a roach to live for if they happen to escape the bait and discs? Thank you so much!
    A

A roach control treatment will depend on the level of activity you have. Gentrol Point Source Stations can last and be replaced every three months. Advion Cockroach Bait Gel will need to be applied fresh every 2 to 3 weeks and we do recommend to rotate to a different bait gel at least every three months. We also recommend spraying with Temprid FX on baseboards, cracks and crevices, this and the bait gel could kill a roach within approximately 72 hours or so. Please take a few minutes to review the article on How to Get Rid of Roaches for placement options and more tips

    Q
Hi, I put 20 Gentrol Point Source in my kitchen in drawers and cabinets, one on the counter and one on the ceiling.
Is this safe or is it possible to put too many gentrol point sources in one kitchen?
    A

There is no mention on the product label that prohibits the use of all 20 Gentrol Point Source stations in one area but there generally is no need to do so. Each station covers an area of 75 square feet and will last up to 3 months. If you need more information, you can contact the manufacturer at 1-800-248-7763.

  • Asked by Shayna from New Jersey
    03/23/2024
    Q
If I put one Gentrol Point Source inside my cabinet (under my kitchen sink) will it still treat 75 square feet or just inside?
    A
Gentrol Point Source requires air currents to move around an area. If it is placed inside a cabinet, it most likely will no have an air current and will only be able to treat the area within the cabinet.  It is recommended to use 3-4 in the kitchen/other rooms and 1-2 in bathroom areas.

  • Asked by Tania from Los Angeles, Ca
    10/23/2013
    Q
Does Gentrol Point Source photo-degrade if used near large windows?
I had read online that Hydroprene in Gentrol photo-degrades and is therefore only for indoor use. Can it still be used indoors near windows that have UV-filtering film, so there is daylight, but negligible UV?
    A
Yes, you are correct. We only recommend using Gentrol indoors. Yes, Gentrol used near a window indoors will still remain effective. If you are also wanting to an IGR outdoors, we suggest Nyguard IGR as it will remain photostable for up to 7 months.

    Q
Would it hurt to put more than 1 Gentrol Point Source in a room? Will this work on fleas too?
    A
Gentrol Point Source is not labeled for treatment for fleas.  Place one GENTROL POINT SOURCE® device to treat up to a 75 square foot area, paying particular attention to locations of roach or stored pantry pest activity. More devices may be needed in areas with a heavy roach or SPP infestation.

    Q
Gentrol Point Source for pantry moths?
Would Gentrol Point source be effective on pantry moths? I have an infestation I can't seem to get rid of. I use pheromone sticky traps that work well but I still have pantry moths.
    A
The Gentrol Point Source is labeled for roaches, and the listed Stored Product Pests (red, confused flour, and merchant beetles.  The Gentrol IGR concentrate might be the better product to used depending on the type of pantry moth you are treating for as it is labeled for more.
