  • Asked by Pat
    06/17/2018
    Q
Can I spray GrazonNext HL Herbicide near (3 feet away) some fruit trees?
Does the chemical spread thru the soil? Would it harm the trees and would the fruit be safe to consume?
    A

GrazonNext should not be used around desirable crops. Per the GrazonNext HL Herbicide label, you should avoid application under conditions that may allow spray drift because very small quantities of spray, which may not be visible, may seriously injure crops.  Susceptible crops include, but are not limited to, cotton, okra, flowers, fruit trees, grapes (in growing stage), fruit trees (foliage), soybeans (vegetative stage), ornamentals, sunflowers, tomatoes, beans, and other vegetables, or tobacco. Because it is a post-emergent herbicide,  it can be used any time the weeds are in an actively growing state. If the weeds are apparent now, then you can use the product now to try and eliminate them.

    Q
What is the shelf life after mixing GrazonNext HL Herbicide?
    A

You should only mix enough GrazonNext HL Herbicide that you plan to use within about 24 hours after mixing. You should not store solution in your spray tank since it can come out of solution, the active ingredient can break down, and this can leave extra residues and possibly damage your spray tank.

  • Asked by Kevin from Emporia, Kansas
    09/25/2018
    Q
Can I use Grazon to kill johnson grass in a smooth brome field?
    A

GrazonNext HL Herbicide will not control Johnsongrass. Per the product label, this product may suppress certain established grasses, such as smooth broomegrass, especially when plants are stressed by adverse environmental conditions. Plants should recover from this transient suppression with the onset of environmental conditions favorable to grass growth and upon release from weed competition.

We have Pastora Herbicide to control Johnsongrass in Bermuda pastures. If you have another type of desirable grass, then you may need to spot treat with an organic or other non-selective herbicide labeled for use in grazing areas, such as AXXE Broad Spectrum Herbicide.
