    Q
How soon can I square bale my hay fields after spraying Grazonnext ?
I square bale roughly 4000 bales per year
    A

Per the product label for GrazonNext HL Herbicide: Do not harvest forage for hay within 7 days of GrazonNext HL application. Cutting hay too soon after spraying weeds can compromise the weed control. Wait 14 days prior to cutting grass hay to allow for maximum herbicide activity

Also please be aware of the following restrictions:

Do not use grasses treated with GrazonNext HL in the preceding 18-months for hay intended for export outside the United States.

Hay from areas treated with GrazonNext HL in the preceding 18-months CANNOT be distributed or made available for sale off the farm or ranch where harvested unless allowed by supplemental labeling.

Hay from areas treated with GrazonNext HL in the preceding 18-months CANNOT be used for silage, haylage, baylage and green chop unless allowed by supplemental labeling.

Do not move hay made from grass treated with GrazonNext HL within the preceding 18-months off farm unless allowed by supplemental labeling.

Do not use hay or straw from areas treated with GrazonNext HL within the preceding 18-months or manure from animals feeding on hay treated with GrazonNext HL in compost.

Do not use grasses treated with GrazonNext HL in the preceding 18-months for seed production.

    Q
Would spraying GrazonNext HL Herbicide around a lake be harmful to fish or swimmers?
    A

GrazonNext HL Herbicide is only labeled for use in the following locations: Range-land, Permanent Grass Pastures, Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) acres and Wildlife Management areas. It should not be applied by a lake as it is toxic to aquatic invertebrates and may be toxic to fish. Drift or runoff may adversely affect aquatic invertebrates and nontarget plants. You could use a product like Rodeo Herbicide as it is labeled for use in and around ponds, streams, lakes and other bodies of water.

I'm having a hard time calculating how much GrazonNext I need to put into my sprayer which will cover 1 acre per 40 gallons of water. I'm trying to kill lots of different weeds, mostly broadleaf types in north Texas.
    A

You will mix the GrazonNext HL Herbicide at 1.5 pints (24 oz) per 40 gallons of water per acre. For tough to control weeds you may use up to 2.1 pints (34 oz) per acre.

  • Asked by Brent from Boswell, Ok
    06/30/2018
    Q
How much Grazon Next HL do I put in a 55 gallon tank to spray milk weed and wooly croton? I have 30 acres.
The mixing rates on label are very hard to understand. Don't want to use too much.
    A

GrazonNext HL Herbicide is not labeled to treat for milkweed but for woolly croton the rate range per the label is 1.2 to 1.5 pints (19 to 24 oz) per acre.  Best weed control results are obtained when spray volume is sufficient to provide uniform coverage of treated plants. The amount of water is not set and is however much water it takes for you to cover the acre.  It could be at least 20 gallons of water up to 100 gallons.

For milkweed it appears that glyphosate is the best product for it but it could also kill anything desirable that it is sprayed to so care should be taken if used.

  • Asked by Jb from Oklahoma
    08/05/2019
    Q
I have a 25 gallon sprayer tank. How much Grazon should I use in order to kill thistle and blackberry?
    A

The rate at which you apply GrazonNext HL Herbicide will depend on the specific type of thistle you are treating. If you are treating yellow starthistle, bull thistle, musk thistle, or plumeless thistle, then you can use 1.2 - 1.5 pints per Acre, which would be 0.44 - 0.5 oz per 1,000 square feet. For sowthistle, prickly sowthistle, Canada thistle, or scotch thistle, you would use 1.5 - 2.1 pints per Acre(this is the same for blackberry), or 0.5 - 0.78 oz per 1000 sq ft. For spot treating with a 1-2 gallon sprayer, you would use the 1,000 sq ft rate in 1 gallon of water. For larger areas, the exact amount of water needed with depend upon your spray equipment and at what speed the product is applied. Please refer to the product label for complete application instructions.

  • Asked by Jonathan from Eva, Al
    05/24/2018
    Q
Is GrazonNext HL Herbicide safe for vegetables. Also, when should it be applied?
    A

GrazonNext should not be used around desirable crops. Per the GrazonNext HL Herbicide label, you should avoid application under conditions that may allow spray drift because very small quantities of spray, which may not be visible, may seriously injure crops.  Susceptible crops include, but are not limited to, cotton, okra, flowers, fruit trees, grapes (in growing stage), fruit trees (foliage), soybeans (vegetative stage), ornamentals, sunflowers, tomatoes, beans, and other vegetables, or tobacco. GrazonNext HL provides preemergence control of germinating seeds or emerging seedlings of susceptible weeds and re-growth of certain perennial weeds following application.  When to apply depends on your application type, either as a pre-emergent (before seeds germinate) or post emergent application (anytime weeds are actively growing).

    Q
How much Grazon to water for treating 10 acres?
    A

GrazonNext HL Herbicide is used at rates of 1.2 – 2.1 pints per acre (19 – 34 oz per acre) in sufficient water to cover that area.  You would need to know first how much area your tank covers, and then check Table 3 on the product label for the specific rate for the weeds you are targeting.

  • Asked by Larry from Seminole, Fl
    08/11/2018
    Q
I need to know how much GrazonNext HL Herbicide to put into my 3 gallon back pack sprayer to spot treat iron weed?
    A

The amount of GrazonNext HL Herbicide can vary based on how much water is required to thoroughly spray the foliage to the point of run off.  It is advised that the total amount of GrazonNext HL applied broadcast, as a re-treatment, and/or spot treatment per year must not exceed 2.1 pints (34 fluid oz) per acre. Spot treatments may be applied at an equivalent broadcast rate of up to 4.2 pints (68 fluid oz) per acre of GrazonNext HL per annual growing season; however, not more than 50% of an acre may be treated at that rate.  For ironweed the rate is 24 to 34 fl oz per acre.  If it takes you 20 gallons of water to cover an acre, the 3 gallon rate is as follows 3.6 fl oz ot 5.1 fl oz.  Please refer to Table 1 and Table 2 on pages 4 & 5 of the product label for the rates if it takes higher amounts of water.

Will GrazonNext HL harm eastern red cedars?
    A

Per the GrazonNext HL Herbicide Product Label: Trees adjacent to or in a treated area can occasionally be affected by root uptake of GrazonNext HL through movement into the soil. Do not apply GrazonNext HL within the root zone of desirable trees unless such injury can be tolerated. • Asked by Mary from Tx
    07/02/2018
    Q
How much GrazonNext HL would be needed for about 100 acres to spray for goatweeds, yellow flowers & berry vine?
This would be large area coverage and not spot spay. How many gallons and the mix ratio.
    A

For most viney plants, you would use 1.5 – 2.1 pints (24-34 fl oz) of GrazonNext HL Herbicide per Acre. There is a chart on page 4 of the label to convert rates depending on how much area your tank volume will cover. So you would need about 19 – 26 gallons of GrazonNext concentrate to cover that area. Since these are 2 gallon containers, that would be 10-13 containers.

    Q
When can I spray GrazonNext HL if I planted bermuda coastal (Texas Tough) in mid April 2018?
It is now the end of June 2018 and looking fairly established
    A

Per the GrazonNext HL Herbicide product label for Seeding grasses:

Preemergence: Grasses may be reseeded in the fall following an application of GrazonNext HL applied in the spring or early summer.

Postemergence: During the season of establishment, GrazonNext HL should be applied only after perennial grasses are well established (have developed a good secondary root system and show good vigor). Most perennial grasses are tolerant to GrazonNext HL at this stage of development.
