Extinguish Plus is a great choice for fire ants. You should exclude the chickens from the treatment area or use exclusion materials around the mounds so worker fire ants have a chance to pick up the bait and take it back into their nests (within 12 hrs of application). Baits should only be applied during favorable conditions (when you are not expecting rain and temps between 60-90 degrees).
