The product label for Crossbow Herbicide does not address girdling specifically, so we would not be able to give you specific advice on this application. Per the treatment instructions for Conventional Basal Bark and Stump Applications: "...Mix 4 gallons of this product in diesel oil, No. 1 or No. 2 fuel oil, or kerosene to make 100 gallons of spray mixture. Spray the basal parts of brush or trees to a height of 15 to 20 inches from the ground...For better regrowth control, cut the larger trees and treat the stumps."
Crossbow Herbicide is known to be a great product to kill brush and other unwanted woody plants. You should not spray if it is windy, and be careful that over spray does not get on the desirable trees. Crossbow Herbicide is not supposed to harm established grasses and should pose no threat on your Bahia grass, according to the manufacturer. This being said, we always recommend treating a small area first to test the results. As long as your grass is not stressed by drought and it is healthy the grass will not be harmed. Before using Crossbow Herbicide we suggest going over the product label.
As long as you are not spraying Crossbow Herbicide directly on the desirable tree leaves/roots or blueberries it should not harm them. That being said, it is not labeled to be used around edibles, so applications should be kept outside of the dripline of the blueberry plants.
Crossbow is a vegetation management product which means it is not very selective, it will kill almost anything. Although it should not harm a tree when used at recommended levels if it gets on the base of the tree, it will harm a tree if you spray Crossbow on the foliage.
