  • Asked by Jack from Elgin, Oklahoma

    Q
When is the best time to spray Hi - Yield 2, 4 - D Selective Weed Killer for burweeds?
Should you wait until you see them or before like a pre emergent? Using on lawn with Bermuda grass.
    A

Hi-Yield 2, 4-D Selective Weed Killer is not labeled for burweed. We would recommend using a post emergent like Dismiss on Bermuda in the spring to treat actively growing burweed. Burweed is a cool season weed that germinates in the early fall as temperatures cool and it grows over the winter. Pendulum is a good fall option for treatment before the weeds starts to germinate.

  • Asked by Carolyn from Vista, Ca

    Q
Will Hi Yield 2 4-D kill weeks in Dymondia Margaretae?
Planted Dymondia Margaretae about 3 yrs ago and last year started seeing lots of burr clover & oxalis weed invading in my established dymondia. The dymondia is so tight that I can manually pull out the weeds by their roots & now there are too many. Can Hi Yield 2, 4-D kill weeds but leave Dymondia alone? If not, can you recommend a product that will, please
    A
Hi - Yield 2, 4 - D Selective Weed Killer is not safe to use on groundcovers such as the dymondia. Unfortunately, we do not have a selective herbicide that would kill weeds such as clover and oxalis without also injuring the dymondia. You would need to hand pull or spot treat carefully using a non-selective herbicide such as Hi-Yield Killzall Quik RTU. You can use a pre-emergent such as Pendulum 2G to help prevent new oxalis and other labeled weeds from germinating with fall and/or spring applications.
