    can I use this product around my trees,where the bulk of wild onions are?
    My entire backyard has tree roots under soil. I want to plant grass but need to kill onions 1st. Need I say this is a shaded yard.

    What type of grass is it safe to use Hi-Yield 2, 4-D Selective Weed Killer and what rate for 1gal of water?
    A

    Hi-Yield 2, 4-D Selective Weed Killer  can be applied to established lawns, ornamental turf, drainage ditchbanks, pastures, rangelands, non-crop areas, ponds, golf courses, cemeteries, parks, and other grassy areas. It is not safe to be used on sensitive grasses such as Zoysia, Centipede and St. Augustine.

    For Spot treatment in non-crop areas: Use 1 pint in 3 gallons of water or 4 oz. in 3/4 gallon in a hand sprayer. In pastures and rangeland: Use 3 to 4 oz. in 1 to 3 gallons of water per 1,000 sq. ft. On Ornamental Turf: Use 16 oz. in 1 to 8 gallons of water per 2,725 sq. ft. or 2 gallons in 15 to 50 gallons per acre. DO NOT apply at wind speed greater than 15 mph or temperatures above 90 degrees F. See product label for complete application instructions.

    Hi-Yield 2, 4-D Selective Weed Killer is safe around dogs when used as directed on the product label.  Pets and people should be out of the area during treatment until dry, typically a few hours is best.

    Yes, although the mixing ratios will vary. According to the Hi-Yield 2, 4-D Selective Weed Killer product label: For Spot treatment in non-crop areas: Use 1 pint in 3 gallons of water or 4 oz. in 3/4 gallon in a hand sprayer.     Hi-Yield 2, 4-D Selective Weed Killer  is safe for Bermuda, but St. Augustine. Trimec Southern may be a better alternative for you.

    Does Hi-Yield 2, 4-D Selective Weed Killer need to be watered in to prevent burning the grass?

    The ground can be watered prior to the application of Hi-Yield 2, 4D Selective Weed Killer if the soil is dry. We do not recommend applying when the lawn is stressed, in the heat of the day or when temperatures exceed 90 degrees.

    How much Hi-Yield 2,4-D Selective Weed Killer is needed for 1 acre using a 15 gallon boom sprayer?

    Per the label recommendations, you will mix 1 gallon of Hi - Yield 2, 4 - D with 15 gallons of water into your 15 gallon sprayer which will cover 1 acre.

    Will Hi-Yield 2, 4-D Selective Weed Killer kill fish?
    After contacting my Ag center I was told 2,4-D could be used to kill or maintain lotus in s fish pond yet I see one question about this and claims it would kill fish. Could Hi-Yield 2,4-D be used to maintain lotus with bass and brim?

    Per the product label for Hi-Yield 2, 4-D Selective Weed Killer:  This pesticide may be toxic to fish and aquatic invertebrates. Do not apply directly to water, to areas where surface water is present, or to intertidal areas below the mean high water mark. Drift and runoff may be hazardous to aquatic organisms in water adjacent to treated areas. Do not contaminate water when disposing of equipment wash waters or rinsate.

    When is it ok for Chickens to go where 2, 4-D was sprayed?
    A

    If you are applying Hi-Yield 2, 4-D Selective Weed Killer in an area where animals will graze, then you would need to wait a minimum of 30 days after application before allowing animals back into the treated area.  If you are applying in a non-grazing area, they would need to be kept out of the area while spraying and until the product dries completely.

    Will Hi-Yield 2,4-D kill invasive buckthorn?
    1/8 acre. New leaves on cut short plants

    Hi-Yield 2, 4-D Selective Weed Killer is not labeled to control buckthorn.  It appears that either a product like Crossbow or RoundUp can be used to kill cut stumps.  Apply immediately after cutting the stump to prevent resprouting.  There is a great article here from the Dept of Natural Resources in Minnesota that can help as well.

    How much Hi-Yield 2,4-D should I use in a one gallon sprayer for purple thistles?

    According to the Hi-Yield 2,4-D product label:  To control broadleaf weeds in small areas with a hand sprayer, use 1 pint of this product in 3 gallons 3/4 gallon of water and spray to thoroughly wet all foliage (4 fluid ounces in ¾ gallon).

    This would be 5.3 oz in 1 gallon of water for spot treatments.

    Would Hi-Yield 2, 4-D Selective Weed Killer be an effective killer of the Chameleon plant, Houttuynia cordata?
    I've tried a variety of methods to kill the Chameleon plant, Houttuynia cordata without any success. Will this help in the process?

    Hi-Yield 2, 4-D Selective Weed Killer is not labeled for the Chameleon plant, Houttuynia cordata. You can spot treat with a product like Gly Pho-Sel Pro with 41% Glyphosate. It appears this type of weed is best controlled by manually removing the plants and as many of the roots and rhizomes as possible and disposing of them by incinerating them.  This will need to be done multiple times to get complete control.  It might also be helpful to contact your local cooperative extension office here and speak with the master gardener on staff to see if they are aware of methods that others have used to control this plant in your area.

    Hi-Yield 2, 4-D Selective Weed Killer will treat for sticker or sand burs. We recommend also to make sure there is an adequate amount of water being applied to your turf as sometimes lack of water can cause sticker bur. Please make sure to follow the product label for application

    Just for spraying my rock bed.

    To make a spot application with Hi-Yield 2, 4-D Selective Weed Killer, you can mix 4 oz into 3/4 of a gallon of water. That mean that if all you need is one quart of solution, you will mix 1.3 oz into 32 oz of water.
