The ground can be watered prior to the application of Hi-Yield 2, 4D Selective Weed Killer if the soil is dry. We do not recommend applying when the lawn is stressed, in the heat of the day or when temperatures exceed 90 degrees.

Hi-Yield 2, 4-D Selective Weed Killer is not labeled to control buckthorn. It appears that either a product like Crossbow or RoundUp can be used to kill cut stumps. Hi-Yield 2, 4-D Selective Weed Killer is not labeled for the Chameleon plant, Houttuynia cordata. You can spot treat with a product like Gly Pho-Sel Pro with 41% Glyphosate. It appears this type of weed is best controlled by manually removing the plants and as many of the roots and rhizomes as possible and disposing of them by incinerating them. This will need to be done multiple times to get complete control. It might also be helpful to contact your local cooperative extension office here and speak with the master gardener on staff to see if they are aware of methods that others have used to control this plant in your area.
