  • Asked by Nikki from Casa Grande, Az
    02/05/2021
    Q
Will Hi-Yield Crabgrass Weed Control help me irradicate well established crabgrass roots in bare ground?
I live in Central AZ and my new house has a bare ground yard which I discovered is almost completely over run with a very well established underground crabgrass root system that literally is EVERYWHERE in my yard with roots starting from the surface down farther than 1' foot deep. Help!
    A

Hi-Yield Crabgrass Weed Control is a selective pre-emergent herbicide, which would only be used to prevent the germination process of weeds.  You would need to apply a post-emergent herbicide for your well established underground Crabgrass root system.  Since your yard is bare ground without any turf grass to kill, we would suggest a non-selective post-emergent herbicide like Roundup QuickPRO applied to the undesired weeds, or for a larger area Roundup Pro Concentrate would be a good option.

    Q
I am using Southern Ag Lawn Weed Killer with Trimec. Can I apply this now in South Carolina? I also want to use Hi-Yield Crabgrass Weed Control. When should I apply this?
    A

Southern Ag Lawn Weed Killer with Trimec is a post-emergent product that can be applied at any time weeds are actively growing. For best results, apply when broadleaf weeds are young and tender. Hi-Yield Crabgrass Weed Control is a pre-emergent.  It is meant to prevent crabgrass from germinating, so it has to be applied before it starts to germinate. This will vary from region to region. For the best timing to apply a pre-emergent in your specific location, we recommend contacting your local cooperative extension office
