    Q
Can Hi-Yield Grass Killer Post-Emergent Herbicide be used around sweet potatoes?
    A

Hi-Yield 2, 4-D Selective Weed Killer does not list on the product label that it is safe for use around edibles, only in non-crop areas.  The Avenger Weed Killer Concentrate is safe for use around edible vegetation and fruit trees as it does not persist in the soil and is approved for organic gardening.  Be sure to not spray any of the plants you do not want to kill as it is non-selective and will kill anything to which it is applied.

  • Asked by Steve from Independence, Mo
    08/07/2019
    Q
Will Hi-Yield Grass Killer Post-Emergent Herbicide kill brome in tall fescue?
    A

Hi-Yield Grass Killer Post-Emergent Herbicide is not labeled to control brome aka cheatgrass. Cheatgrass isn’t listed on many labels as its hard to control. You will likely need to use a product like Roundup to spot treat the cheatgrass and then fill in the bare spots with grass seed to try and keep it from coming back. There are a few pre emergents on the market that claim to prevent cheatgrass so you can look over those to see if you want to use them for prevention this fall and next spring. The Dimension 2EW is labeled to prevent brome/cheatgrass and can be used to prevent it and other weeds like crabgrass in the lawn.

  • Asked by Paul from Central Florida
    08/18/2019
    Q
Will Hi-Yield Grass Killer Post-Emergent Herbicide kill zoysia at the base of rose bushes without harming roses?
    A

Hi-Yield Grass Killer Post-Emergent Herbicide is safe for use around roses as directed on the product label but it is not labeled to control zoysia.  Using a product such as GlyPhoSel Pro as a spot treatment will work to treat the areas where you have the zoysia invading, but it will also kill anything it comes into contact with so be sure to avoid any drift/spray contacting the roses themselves.

    Q
Can I use the Hi-Yield Grass Killer Post-Emergent Herbicide in a hose end sprayer?
    A

The Hi Yield Grass Killer is designed to be mixed with a surfactant and you cannot normally get an accurate dilution rate when you mix the two together in a hose end sprayer. It would be best to use a tank sprayer for it if you can. Otherwise, you will need to make sure your hose end sprayer has a dial to correctly select the amount of product to pull per gallon of water.
