How much Talstar Nursery Granular Insecticide can be added to 4 inch nursery pots to control mealybugs?

I cleaned the Mealybugs off the roots and potted in fresh soil before I received the Talstar Nursery. I don't want to have to repot all my stock. I'd like to just add some to the soil that is already in the 4” nursery pots but need to know how much per pot?

Answer:

The recommended rate for mealybugs using Talstar Nursery Granular insecticide would be 1lb to 3lbs per cubic yard (5 ppm to 10 ppm rate). To determine how much per pot, you will need to know the weight/density of the soil you are using to determine the correct amount. Per the Application Instructions for Potting Media Section on the product label, you will determine the bulk density of the potting media by measuring the dry weight of a unit volume of the mix. Based on the length of control required, thoroughly mix the appropriate quantity of the Talstar Nursery Granular insecticide with equipment suitable to give uniform distribution in the potting media.
