If I can apply Alpine WSG to the box spring, bed frame, and furniture, then why not a mattress?

According to the label, Alpine WSG cannot be applied to the mattress. Keep in mind that the label is the law. If you'd like something safe to spray over the mattress, you can use something like Steri-Fab. For more information you can contact the manufacturer, BASF, at 1-800-526-1072
