If PT Alpine Insecticide Aerosol is sprayed in the home, will this kill plants? I think bugs are coming from overwatered houseplants.

Answer:

Alpine PT Insecticide Aerosol is not labeled to be used on houseplants or ornamentals. This product can be used indoors to cracks, crevices, voids, holes and small openings where these insects may be harboring, traveling, breeding or entering the structure as adults or larvae. Pay particular attention to breeding sites and areas containing debris.

If these are fungus gnats, the best treatment is to allow the soil to dry out completely between the times you are watering them, which may actually be the best thing for the plants anyhow. The second option would be to cover the soil in these pots with some material that prevents the flies from getting to or from the soil, such as a thick layer of spagnum moss or some screening.

The third option would be to use an insecticide such Bifen I/T. Bifen is a concentrated liquid insecticide that is diluted with water and then poured onto the soil and sprayed onto the plant itself if needed (though move outside if spraying)
