Sandy from Holly Springs, Ms writes

If I sprayed Sevin concentrate on the soil is it absorbed by nearby plants?

I sprayed Sevin around the base of my plants, including milkweed to stop army worms from getting in my flower beds. Is Sevin absorbed by the plants? I have monarch butterfly caterpillars that are eating that milkweed. Will it harm the caterpillars?

Answer:

Sevin Concentrate is not systemic so is not absorbed by the plants.  It is labeled to control many varieties and species of caterpillars so would kill any that feed off the plants foliage or areas that have been sprayed.
