In what weather conditions can Harmonix be used?

How much to use for carpenter bees on a 3story home? Spring weather has only just started here, but it is still a bit cold. I saw on one warm day the carpenter bees flying around the outside of my home, we have trouble with them everybody year. Is this product best used during certain weather conditions? Also, how much product is needed for a three story home that is all painted wood?

Answer:

Harmonix Insect Spray can be used at just about any temperature as long as it is above freezing. This is primarily a contact kill insecticide, though, so you want to use it when you see active insects. Most insects will not be active until temperatures are around at least 60 degrees since they need warmer temperatures to survive. Harmonix is a concentrate, and you could use 2.6 oz per gallon of water for exterior treatment, applying at 7-day intervals as needed, per the product label. You should only treat the wood where you see or suspect the insect activity. Depending on the size of the structure, you may use 1-3 gallons of solution per treatment. We also have our Carpenter Bee Control Kit, which includes a dust, duster, and plugs for the holes. We have more tips in our Carpenter Bee Treatment Guide here.
