    Q
I have laminate flooring, what products should I use to treat for fleas?
We have bombed the house twice, and we have gotten rid of the cats. We couldn't take the fleas coming in. We have three children, two under two years old, and we can't take it any more. I think we also need to treat the yard, but I don't know what to do at this point.
    A

Laminate floors do not need to be sprayed with any products; they simply need to be vacuumed, very thoroughly, every day for the next couple of weeks. All upholstered furniture, rugs and carpets can be vacuumed then sprayed with Ultracide. Flea stoppers can be applied to all rugs and carpets to help control developing fleas. Outdoors, you can use Onslaught and Martins IGR sprayed onto moist shady areas and areas where you suspect animals may have spent a lot of time resting. We have put Onslaught and Martins IGR together in an Outdoor/Indoor Flea Kit for your convenience.

    Q
Is Ultracide safe for my cats?
    A
Ultracide is a very safe and effective flea control product that is used widely by professional companies such as Terminix and Orkin in homes with children and pets all the time. You should only apply this product to carpeted areas and upholstered areas.  Do not apply on top of couches and chairs where people rest their arms, fleas do not breed in these areas.  You would want to spray around the foot of the furniture, and underneath couch cushions.  You should have children and pets in another room while you are treating.  After treatment, allow 30 minutes to dry and then it is perfectly safe for children and pets to re-enter the room. Please refer to the Indoor Flea Control Article for additional information.

    Q
Which is the most effective indoor/outdoor flea treatment? Please compare pump sprayers, atomizers and foggers.
I want to understand which products and tool combinations are the most effective (fastest and most reliable) against indoor and outdoor fleas.
    A
Foggers and atomizers are not good for fleas at all.  We sell an indoor flea kit that is the best for fleas indoors.  You must use an IGR (insect growth regulator) for fleas which you cannot use in a fogger or atomizer.  Our kit is the best option for indoors as it is the same professional products professional companies use.  The most important part of any flea treatment is vacuuming.  You should vacuum before treating and then again every couple days after your treatment.  You should also treat again in exactly 14 days.  There is enough product in our indoor flea kit to treat an average size house twice.  We also carry an outdoor/indoor flea kit that works great for the inside and outside of your home. This kit contains a liquid concentrate and an IGR (insect growth regulator). It is applied using a one gallon hand pump sprayer. When treating the outside, we recommend that you mow your lawn one to two days prior to the application.

    Q
I have fleas in my house, and I don't have any carpets. What product do I need to use to get rid of fleas?
    A
You should thoroughly vacuum every square inch of floor and all of the upholstered furniture. All upholstered furniture and pet resting areas should be treated with Ultracide. If you have pets that go outdoors, then moist shady areas and other places where the pets may rest should be treated using products such as Tengard SFR and Martins IGR together. You should continue to vacuum indoors everyday for the next 14 days and expect to need to retreat at the end of that period. Severe infestations may also require a third treatment.

    Q
Which product do I use on which surface? Your answers vary.
Hello - I have extensive hardwood flooring throughout my house, with area rugs and of course furniture. In some cases you recommend in Q&A 'Ultracide for hardwoods' and FleaStoppers for carpet only. But later you say 'upholstered furniture rugs and carpets can be vacuumed then sprayed with Ultracide,' and 'Fleastoppers can be applied to all rugs and carpets." I want to do this correctly the first time, as it will require a lot of work in a 3500sq/ft house, so please advise the correct sequence of product per surface type- Thank you.
    A
The Ultracide can be applied to most surfaces including hard floor coverings, carpets, rugs, upholstered furniture and other pet resting areas (please test small inconspicuous area on hardwood flooring to be sure staining will not be a problem). Flea Stoppers can be applied to rugs and carpets only because if it is applied to hard flooring surfaces it can be slippery and cause you to fall. You should vacuum all areas prior to the application of either product.

    Q
If you would compare your product to Diatomaceous Earth- what is the difference?
I've seen where you said you can leave your product in the carpets for a few months. If so what about the pets being on the carpet while it's on there? So I also read about the other product I mentioned, yes I know it's powder, all of yours is spray. What about stuff to put on the animals, and the furniture & stuff?
    A
The Indoor Flea Kit contains Ultracide which is an aerosol spray that can be applied to carpets, upholstered furniture and the pets resting areas. You should vacuum immediately before applying the Ultracide and every other day for the next 14 days for the best results. The kit also contains Flea Stoppers which is a granulated boric acid product that will fall to the bottom of the nap of carpets where fleas are most likely to develop. Developing flea larvae will actually feed on organic matter that has now been coated with Flea Stoppers. Since Flea Stoppers falls to the bottom of the carpet nap, it will not be vacuumed up like a dust product such as Diatomaceous Earth. Your pets will need to be treated with a product that is labeled for use on pets such as Petcor or a product that you get from your veterinarian.

    Q
I have a pregnant dog that weighs about 10 lbs. How do I safely kill fleas on her?
    A
We do not recommend that you use any type of insecticide product on a pregnant or lactating dog. The best thing you can do for fleas on your pregnant dog is to bathe her with a dish detergent such as Dawn that has been diluted with water. Let the diluted soap sit on your dog for about 5-10 minutes. Rinse her thoroughly, then go to work with a flea comb. Drop fleas that have been combed out of her coat into a cup soapy water. Wash or replace all of her bedding and vacuum all carpeted areas frequently. You can treat all carpeted areas with Ultracide to help get rid of any fleas that are infesting the house (your dog must be removed from the area that is being treated) and Flea Stoppers to help keep the fleas gone. There are some topical products such as Frontline, that are labeled for use on pregnant dogs, but you should consult with your veterinarian to be sure it is safe for your dog.

    A
Most folks use the Ultracide for treating basements infested with fleas. Be sure to vacuum thoroughly before you apply the Ultracide. You will need to do a repeat treatment after 14 days to get rid of any stragglers.

Yes. As long as the Ultracide is completely dry and the Flea Stoppers has been properly applied, there should not be any problem with the children sleeping on the floor.

    Q
I am infested with fleas. What is your best suggestion? I'm at my wits end!
I've been using Ultracide. I've used Precor Fogger IGR in each room. I've been vacuuming 2-3X a week. The dog gets flea baths & is on Capstar. They seem to subside, but then they're back full force 2 days later! This has been going on for weeks. I don't know what else to do. It's a nightmare.
    A

For indoors, I would highly recommend our Indoor Flea Kit.  It is our most popular product for indoor flea control and is usually the final treatment that people end up using that works when they have tried everything else.

Here is a link for you to read further:  http://www.domyownpestcontrol.com/indoor-flea-kit-p-1056.html

Hopefully the flea problem is not below the carpet in the base flooring…..that is the worst situation where carpet has to be removed to get rid of the problem.  But this rarely happens and the indoor flea control kit will usually take care of it.  Just read the instructions carefully and make sure you vacuum thoroughly and treat at least twice, 14 days apart.

    Good Luck!

The Indoor Flea Kit with Alpine Aerosol and CimeXa Dust treats over 2000 sq. ft. of space and is an excellent combination for long-lasting flea control. The kit contains two cans of Alpine Aerosol which is one of the safest professional grade flea sprays for use indoors and was recently classified as a reduced risk product by the EPA. It provides excellent control of fleas and contains an IGR as well, which prevents adult fleas from being able to lay eggs, eventually halting the flea reproductive cycle.  You'll also get two bottles of CimeXa Dust which is a safe, odorless, non-staining dust that is perfect for spreading on carpets, floor coverings, in cabinets, under furniture cushions, and other areas where fleas tend to harbor.  As fleas come into contact with CimeXa, the dust literally dries the fleas out causing eventual death.  These two products together create a powerful double punch providing excellent, safe and lasting indoor flea control.

    Q
How to kill fleas between floors.
I live in a two story garage that was converted into a two floor apartment. A few weeks after the place was flooded due to a defective upstairs water heater, I started experiencing a major flea infestation. Recently, the carpet upstairs was removed. I found underneath the carpet was boards nailed next to each other, but leaving a small millimeter gap between the boards. Fleas now live between the first and second floor. Also note, two inch support beams about one foot apart run the full horizon length of the apartment, which divides the area between the floors into one foot by ten foot sections. I don't think the fleas could travel from one section to the next. How can I get rid of the fleas underneath my upstairs floor?
    A

We would recommend using our Indoor Flea Kit. This kit contains Alpine Aerosol and CimeXa dust and will treats over 2000 sq. ft. of space and is an excellent combination for long-lasting flea control. Vacumming is KEY! Vacumming all carpeted areas, baseboard areas furniture everyday or everyother day in between treatments will increase your results. If you have access to the area in between the boards, we would recommend treating that space with the dust as well. When treating for fleas, it will take atleast 2 treatments, if not 3-4 to fully eradicate them. Please read more on the Indoor Flea Kit Page for detailed instructions and tips.

    Q
What can I do or buy for fleas in the house & cats? What about house extermination bombs?
    A

We normally do not recommend bombing to treat for fleas. The reason being that when you bomb you are only killing the insects that come in contact with the active ingredient. You want to use products that will break down the life cycle of the fleas. We recommend using the Indoor Flea Kit. For treating the fleas on the cat we would recommend Petcor Flea Spray.  Petcor Flea Spray contains Precor IGR, an insect growth regulator that targets fleas in the egg and larval stages of development. As a result, pre-adult fleas cannot produce new infestations of breeding, biting adults.

    Q
What is safe to use for flea infestation where I would not have to leave the house?
I live in the Deep South and fleas are becoming a huge problem and I would like to do it myself to save money. What products (IGR and adultcide permethrin) could I use where I would not need to leave my house. My exterminator always sprayed our house for 35 years (he recently passed) and we never had to leave the house, and he always said it was okay for my cats and two dogs to be around. Thank you.

We would recommend the Indoor flea kit.  Be sure to watch the video on the kit page for application. It is highly recommend to keep children and pets out of the area until dried. Most folk will move the pets room to room as they treat.

    Q
How do I treat fleas in my home?
I have three dogs which get flea treatment monthly .
    A

We would recommend our Indoor Flea and Tick Kit.  It contains the professional pest control products needed to successfully treat active infestations of fleas indoors. The combination of PT Alpine Flea and Bed Bug Aerosol spray and CimeXa Insecticide Dust offers multiple active ingredients and modes of action to provide a quick initial knockdown of adults and long-term protection from immature fleas and ticks. It is also crucial to practice good inspection and non-chemical sanitation such as vacuuming and removing debris outdoors for complete Flea Treatment.
