Is it normal for dandelions to regrow after spraying Trimec 992 two weeks ago?

Sprayed Trimec Classic two weeks ago. Leaves of dandelions started to curl but now the weeds look like they are rebounding/growing again. Is this normal?

Answer:

It is possible if you have mature dandelions (already flowered) that you may need more than one application of Trimec 992 to control them. If you treat more than twice on the same areas with the same herbicide, you may consider using a formulation without 2,4-D since there could be some resistance to this active ingredient. Be sure that you are using the recommended label rate on the product label, too. If you use too little product for the size area you are treating, or if you use too low a volume of water, then you could get limited results. Rainfall or irrigation within about 24 hours of your herbicide application, or mowing within 2 days of application can also reduce efficacy.
