Is it safe to be in the same room with furniture being treated with Nuvan ProStrips for bed bug control?

I want to wrap sofas and other furniture with plastic sheets or furniture bags/covers and place Nuvan Strips inside for at least 2 weeks for bed bug treatment. I'd seal the bags opening with duct tape. How thick should the sheets/bags be? Is it safe to be in the same rooms with those furniture while they are being treated? It's cold here so I can't keep the rooms opened for ventilation. I work from home so I stay home 24/7. I'm worried if I'd be inhaling the ddvp vapor in all day.

Answer:

Nuvan ProStrips cannot be used in open areas of the home or occupied rooms. Items must remain in a sealed, enclosed area for at least 2 weeks to be effective for bed bugs so any furniture items, pictures, electronics, tables, etc would need to be relocated to an unoccupied room in the home such as a spare bedroom or garage area.  For bed bug treatments to furniture, upholstery, etc, Sterifab would be a better option as a contact-kill surface spray as once it has dried, there is no residual and safe for human contact. Bedlam Plus Aerosol is recommended to treat the tufts and folds along the edges of sofas, couches, chairs, mattresses, box springs, side tables, etc as a contact kill + residual.  Both of these products and treatments are explained in our Bed Bug Treatment Guide  and are included in our selection of Bed Bug Control Kits
