Is there a better bait than Contrac or a better way to have rats consume it?

I recently purchased pail of All Weather Contrac Rat Bait Blocks. It wasn't cheap I might add however have had no luck having the rats consume any. It's been out for over a month in the path of there travel. If I lace the bait station with peanut butter they will visit and only eat the peanut butter. I've attempted this several time and even coated the blocks with peanut butter. They only remove the peanut butter off the blocks. Please advise on method to produce results. Thanks, Mike

Answer:

Keep in mind that baiting with Contrac or any other rodenticide does take time and it becomes less effective if you are adding peanut butter. There are already food based ingredients in the blocks that attract rodents. We recommend that you remove other food sources they have access to as much as possible. The bait should be replaced every 30 days to maintain freshness and should be in tamper resistant bait stations for security and to reduce exposure to the elements.
