    Q
Will Killzall get rid of wandering jew plants?
The former homeowner planted wandering jew in several flower beds because she had a brown thumb. I have Round- up plus covering in layers of black plastic and stones, but it prevails and spreads. It burns my skin. Dogs re allergic to it.
    A
Glyphosate based products such as Killzall are recommended for getting rid of wandering jew. It may take a few applications at the stronger usage rate to gain control and actually kill off the plant.

    Q
Will overspray Of KillzAll hurt heirloom specialty day lilies when using high concentrate to kill horse nettle?
I have horse nettle, Solanum Carolinense, growing rampant taking over flowerbeds with heirloom specialty day lilies (mostly) and other flowers. I've tried killing it over and over again with various products. It won't die. lol. I found a website which suggested 'I have had the best luck by waiting until they have grown fairly large in July and then painting all the leaves with a 50-50 mixture of glyphosate and water. By late August smaller Horse nettle plants will root-sprout, that is when I give them another treatment. After a few years most of these nettles have disappeared.' They are so thick that I would rather spray with a hand sprayer but am very concerned about the possible effects on the lilies, especially at the 50-50 mixture which is apparently necessary to kill this evil plant (what we called it for the last 12+ years before Google helped to identify it). I've looked at a bunch of websites and none of them list lily as being killed by Glyphosate, but how do I know it's an inclusive list?
    A

KillzAll Weed and Grass Killer is labeled to control Horsenettle but should not be used any stronger than as directed on the product label. Use 2.5 oz. Killzall per gallon of water. It will pretty much kill anything it is applied to, and any drift or overspray could harm other plants that are contacted. Glyphosate is a non-selective herbicide, so any product containing this active ingredient will affect any plants that are sprayed with it.

    Q
How long should you wait to use the pond water after you spray the water lilies with Killzall?
    A
You cannot use Killzall weed and grass killer around any acquatic life or bodies of water.  However we do carry a glyphosate product that is made specifically for use around bodies of water.  It is called Rodeo and you should use a surfactant with it for better results.  You would wait 48 hours after application before using the water.

    Q
Can I spray Killzall Weed and Grass Killer over my blue rug juniper to kill weeds but not the Juniper?
    A

The Killzall Weed and Grass Killer is just like roundup and hence its name, will kill all vegetation you spray it on. You could use the Killzall to spot treat the weeds you see coming up or if the weeds are grassy and not broadleaf weeds you could use a product like Fertilome Over the Top to spray overthe juniper and only kill the grasses. You can also use a pre-emergent product in the spring and fall of each year to help prevent grassy and broadleaf weeds from coming up throughout the growing season. Surflan Pro and Snapshot are two examples of great ornamental planting pre emergent products.

    Q
I have applied Killzall 3 times in 1 week and the weeds don't seem to be dying. What should I do?
    A

Killzall Weed and Grass Killer - 41% Glyphosate can take up to 2 weeks to completely kill weeds and applying it more often or higher than the labeled rate does not make it work faster or better.  In fact, this can actually stress the weeds, making them less likely to absorb the product and die from it.  It does only kill the weeds it is directly sprayed onto and does not prevent anything new from growing in the area.  The rate used sound to be way to much for such a small area, the highest rate you should use is 2 ½ oz per gallon of water to treat 300 sqft per the product label.  At this time we would advise to wait at least 2 weeks from last application and try reapplying ad the labeled rate.  Be sure weeds are actively growing and healthy and are not heat or drought stressed for best results.

  • Asked by Rick from Allen Park Michigan

    Q
After applying Killzall Weed and Grass Killer, is a sod cutter required or is raking the dead grass in piles sufficient?
    A

Killzall Weed and Grass Killer - 41% Glyphosate kills only actively growing weeds and grasses and does not leave a residual in the soil. Therefore any seeds in the soil that have not germinated, would still be able to grow. To ensure there is no regermination or future growth, we would recommend removing the top layer of soil with a sod cutter or shovel if no regrowth is desired.
