Tips:

1. Maintain your Lawn:

Insects thrive in tall grass, so keep your grass cut short. Remove fallen leaves, dead foliage and other lawn debris, as these create places where insects can lay eggs or start a nest. Trim your shrubs and bushes, and remove unwanted plants growing on or around your home.

2. Get Rid of Standing Water:

Excess moisture in your yard is also attractive to many insects, so an important pest prevention strategy is to keep the moisture level down around the outside of your home. When watering your lawn, try to water earlier in the day to allow ample time to dry. You should also monitor your yard, particularly during rainy seasons, for any drainage issues or standing water that may attract pests.

3. Keep Gutter Clean:

Clogged gutters can overflow and cause pools of water to form around the foundation of your home. They can also become breeding grounds for pests. Keeping your gutters clean is an important component of outdoor pest control.

4. Eliminate Food Sources:

As any pest control company can tell you, most pests will go wherever food can be found. This is particularly true for ants. Once insects have found a food source near your home, they will eventually find a way inside. To prevent this, make sure to remove any sources of food surrounding your home, such as garbage bags, pet food, bird feeders and fallen fruits.

5. Keep pest attractors away from the house:

Pests are often attracted to common yard features such as wood piles or compost piles. While it may not be desirable or feasible to eliminate these entirely, you should store them at least 25 feet away from the sides of your home.

6. Be Careful with Mulch:

Mulching around flower beds and landscape features is a popular way of reducing weed growth and keeping plants healthy, but it can also attract more pests to your yard. If you choose to mulch, use it sparingly and choose one made out of aromatic, insect repelling bark, such as cedar. Keep mulch away from the foundation of your home.

    Carpenter ants

    By Mark on 09/04/2015

I live in a wooded area and for the last 23 years the carpenter ants have been my worst night mare. They start off from the same direction sending out scouts which will travel the length of a football field looking foe a source of food and before I know it there on the march coming down from the woods toward my home. In Early spring I tried a new approach or combination useing Knockout, creating a circular beerier in the woods surrounding my property then I created a second beerier for the cleared property around house using Talstar XTRA Granules. Then for the foundation I use Transport SC. Very pleased with the total results, it seemed to solve the problem I knew that if I got past the second week of July without seeing any ants I was Good for the rest of the season. I guess that they all shit the bed and went belly up.

Worked for Big name company- tech recommended

    By Jessa on 06/02/2020

I was going to pay my employer to come out and do a tick service on my yard, but a tech told me about this site, and I have been diy-ing under her instruction. I have bought these granules and treated my and my neighbors' yards for 2 years now, and I am amazingly the ONLY person I know who hasn't had a tick infestation this year. Didn't even think about the reasoning until I was out treating the yards! Buying more!

    There go our pollinators...

    By Jack on 07/14/2020

This product as well as all others containing this and other ingredients will kill bees and other pollinators. People think only honey bees pollinate. No carpenter bees do as well. They are not harmful. Make only nests in wood and are easy to make leave without killing them. If we keep killing the pollinators, you will all be out in the fields with a feather trying to pollinate the veggies or you will be eating plastic food.

Q
Does it just kill adult fleas? Or does it kill flea larvae and eggs as well?
A
The Knock Out Ant, Flea & Tick Killer Granules will only kill the adults. It does not work to eiliminate eggs or larva. We would recommend a supplement such as Archer IGR which stops the reproductive cycle of insects and prevents them from progressing to adults.
