  • Asked by Katie from Alabama

    Q
Will Martins Permethrin 10% kill scabies and bedbugs indoors?
    A

Martins Permethrin 10% is not labeled to treat either scabies or bed bugs.  Scabies mites live only on/in the skin and we do not carry anything to treat humans. Most folks need to visit their doctor to receive the medication needed to get rid of scabies. You may spray your furniture with a product such as Steri-fab to kill anything on furniture though treating the home for scabies is usually not necessary.  If you need to treat for bed bugs we would recommend using one of our bed bug kits to ensure that you have all of the products necessary for a thorough treatment.  Before beginning any treatment, we would recommend that you get a proper identification of the pest you are dealing with, if you have not already done so, so that you can be sure you are using the right product(s) for your needs.  You can do this by contacting either a pest control company or the local cooperative extension office in your area.

    Q
Could Martins Permethrin 10% and Exponent be mixed for mosquitoes in a backpack blower/mister?
Or would Bifen IT be better with Exponent? I'm looking for the best product for my customers for mosquito control that is cost effective.
    A

Martins Permethrin 10% or Bifen IT could be mixed with Exponent in a mister.  Bifen IT is actually the more popular product because it is known for being super gentle on plants. The key is to apply to the underside of leaves where the adults lay during the day.

  • Asked by Dilara from New Jersey

    Q
How should I mix Martins Permethrin 10% and Precor IGR Concentrate?
Hi, I recently purchased these two items treating fleas indoors. I have two indoor cats. Can I simply put them in the bathroom until the carpeted areas dry? And would my husband and I have to leave the house after the treatment?
    A

To treat for fleas indoors, you would mix the Martins Permethrin 10% at the rate of 1.33 oz per gallon of water per 1000 sq. ft., and the Precor IGR at the rate of 1 oz per gallon of water. Both concentrates can be mixed together in the same gallon of water.  Pets and people (other than the person making the application) do need to stay out of the area while the products are being applied and until everything is fully dry. It would be a good idea for you to look over our article on How To Get Rid of Fleas if you have a moment. If you need to treat for several months, then we would recommend rotating the Permethrin with another product such as Conquer Insecticide, since cats can be sensitive to the active ingredient Permethrin.
