    Can I use my Scotts broadcast spreader with Milky Spore Lawn Spreader Mix?

     Milky Spore Spreader Mix is too light to be used with a broadcast spreader. It must be placed in concentrated areas on the lawn and that is why it must be used with a drop spreader over every square foot of grass.

    Can Milky Spore Lawn Spreader Mix be applied now and work?
    It is December 1st, and I am having mole problems.

    The best time to apply Milky Spore Lawn Spreader Mix would be in the spring (May), summer (July), and fall (September). It would be too late in the year to apply this product now if you already have freezing temperatures. We would recommend waiting until the Spring to apply.     What is the setting on a Scott's edge guard spreader for the Milky Spore Lawn Spreader Mix?
    A

    We are not sure if this spreader would be appropriate for application of Milky Spore Lawn Spreader Mix since Milky Spore Spreader Mix is too light to be used with a broadcast/rotary spreader. It must be placed in concentrated areas on the lawn and that is why it must be used with a drop spreader over every square foot of grass.  It requires six applications, usually Spring and Fall for three years to build the number of spores in any one area to millions of spores.

    I live in central Florida, When is the best time and season apply Milky Spore to prevent white grubs?
    A
    The Milky Spore is not for sale to the state of Florida as Florida does not have japanese beetle grubs which is what Milky Spore is specifically designed to eliminate. You would need to use a product like Imigold 0.5 Granules which is labed for the more commons species of grubs found in your area. To find out when the best time to apply is, you would need to contact your local Master Gardener to make sure you are apply the product at the right cycle in your area to get the most results from the product. Applying it too early in their cycle or too late can cause you to only see partial results. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

    How soon after applying Milky Spore Lawn Spreader Mix can I seed the lawn?
    A

    If you plan to treat for grubs with Milky Spore Lawn Spreader Mix, you should do so after you have put the new lawn down. If you apply it now and then dig up the soil later before reseeding the area, you will disturb some of the barrier and spores you have put down.  Or Milky Spore can go down at the same time as the grass seed and then watered in. You can wait 36 to 48 hours before watering in the Spore. Make sure you water the Spore before raking or mowing your lawn.

    We have an ongoing mole issue despite using the Milky Spore Lawn Spreader Mix applied as directed. What should we do?
    Use Scott's drop spreader, no evidence of Japanese beetles. In last 2 weeks, had 12 mole hills again!! Live in Western Michigan(lower peninsula). Local hardware store (where we purchase all of our yard stuff) suggested we contact you.

    Milky Spore Lawn Spre , which are a food source for moles.  However, there are food sources for moles other than grubs.  Earthworms are one of the largest food sources for moles, but unfortunately there is no product that will eradicate the earth worms.  We would recommend a product like Talpirid Mole Bait.  It is a worm shaped bait that moles will consume.  It is dropped in active mole runs.  You can also use a trap like  Talpirid Mole Trap

    How much Milky Spore Lawn Spreader Mix do I need for 1.5 acres?
    A

    The 20lb bag of Milky Spore Lawn Spreader Mix will treat 7,000 sq ft. To treat 1.5 acres, you would need approx 10 bags to fully treat the yard. Milky Spore Lawn Spreader Mix needs be applied in the Spring, Summer and Fall for 2 years in order to get the 20 year protection.

    Why can't you ship Milky Spore Lawn Spreader Mix to Washington?
    Does it not work in our state on grubs?

    Milky Spore Lawn Spreader Mix is only effective on Japanese Beetle Grubs.  The states that the product is not currently registered in are states that don't have Japanese Beetle Grubs.

    We recommend that you calibrate your spreader over a small area of 1000 sq ft before treating your entire yard with Milky Spore Lawn Spreader Mix or any other granule lawn product. We have a video here to assist you with this process. You are using about 2.9 lbs of Milky Spore Spreader mix per 1000 sq ft.

    Is Milky Spore safe for pecan trees?
    A

    Milky Spore Lawn Spreader Mix will not harm shrubs, trees, man, pets or beneficial insects. It is harmless to food crops. It is not a chemical pesticide. It may be used in gardens, around pools and wells.

    If need be, can I add another insecticide to my lawn, alongside Milky Spore?
    Since Milky Spore only targets Grubs, Japanese Beetle Larvae, will I be able to apply other insecticides if I start to notice other types of insects invading my lawn? Will they reduce the effectiveness of each other? Have situations like this been known to harm lawns?

    Yes, you can.  Milky Spore will not interfere with any other beneficials or insecticides.

You have to purchase it from an online retailer like ourselves, or you can possibly find it in a Feed & Seed type of store or a plant nursery.     Will putting Roundup on the yard for weed control affect placing of Milky Spore?

    An application of Roundup would not have any effect on the Milky Spore. Milky Spore is not affected by pesticides, fungicides or herbicides. They may be applied at the same time.
