There is a danger if using MSM Turf Herbicide around oak trees, so you want to be sure that you do not use MSM under any oak tree canopies: be sure to stay outside the drip line of these trees and do not spray if there is wind or other risk of drift to oak trees. Keep in mind that MSM can have a long soil residual, so you should not apply this near desirable trees or ornamental plants or where you intend to plant new trees or shrubs within 1 year and new bedding plants within 2 years. The chickens would need to be removed from the area during the treatment and until the application has completely dried. It should be safe for the chickens to return to this area as long as the manufacturer's product label instructions are followed.
MSM Turf Herbicide is no longer labeled for crabgrass control. We recommend Drive XLR8 Herbicide with Duo Stick Surfactant for post-emergent control of crabgrass on most common turfgrass types (this is not safe for centipede or St. Augustine).

If you need something to kill berry bushes we would recommend spraying them directly with a product like Crossbow.

MSM Turf Herbicide can be applied as a broadcast application on Bermudagrass at 0.25 - 1.0 oz per acre. There may be some temporary chlorosis on desirable turfgrass. Since fescue can be sensitive to MSM Turf Herbicide, you should not seed for 2-4 months after applying this product unless you have done previous testing to indicate this is not an issue. Regarding your seeding in general, usually cool season turf like fescue is seeded in the fall and warm-season grasses like Bermudagrass are seeded in early summer.
If it has been less that 24 hours since mixed MSM Turf Herbicide you can just go back over areas to get a little more coverage or just pour out along the foundation of your home where they may be dirt.
Pets should not be present during the application of MSM Turf Herbicide or while wet. Once completely dry, it is safe for them to enter the treated areas (drying time can vary).
