    Q
How long after spraying MSM Turf Herbicide can cattle graze?
Have several acre pastures I use for my cattle to graze. I sprayed on the 17th of December and need to know if it's safe to transfer to treated area or keep in untreated pasture. Can't seem to get a straight answer
    A

As long as MSM Turf Herbicide was used at the rate of 1 2/3 ounces or less per acre, there are no grazing restriction on pastures.  We would recommend they be out of the area during treatment until dry, typically 4-6 hours just to be safe.

Per the product label: To maintain flexibility in crop rotation plans, do not treat your entire pasture, rangeland or CRP acreage with this product at the same time

  • Asked by Steven from Homosassa, Florida

    Q
Can I mix Image and MSM for an application on a Saint Augustine Lawn in Florida?
I want to control nutsedge and spurge.
    A

The product label of MSM does not mention that MSM and Image have been tested for tank mixes.  It does state: "Tank mixes with other registered herbicides and MSM Turf Herbicide should be tested for compatibility before full scale mixing. Use mechanical or bypass agitation to thoroughly mix the spray suspension. It is not necessary to premix this product with water in a separate container prior to adding it to the spray tank. This product should always be added to the tank first, before any other herbicides or adjuvants." Keep in mind that MSM has extremely low application rates and is very difficult to apply to small areas.

A great option to treat both nutsedge and spurge would be a sulfentrazone product such as Sulfentrazone 4SC. This product is safe on most turfgrasses and has very low use rates.

  • Asked by Bryce from Florence, Sc

    Q
If I spray 15 gallons per acre and use the amount of MSM Turf Herbicide on the label per acre, will that be correct?
I have a 15 gallon sprayer and centipede grass.
    A

MSM Turf Herbicide is labeled to be applied at water volumes of 20 to 80 gallons of water per acre and pressures of 25-35 psi, so using only 15 gallons of water would not give you adequate volume for that size of an area. On Centipedegrass, you can apply 0.25 - 0.5 oz of MSM Herbicide per Acre.

    Q
Will MSM Turf Herbicide kill my Bermuda that is just starting to emerge?
I'm trying to kill Hairy Bittercress in my Bermuda lawn but my Bermuda is just starting to grow due to the afternoon late winter temps being in the low 70s. I can see green blades starting to emerge from the old brown grass.
    A

You can apply MSM during dormancy or after complete green-up of the Bermuda lawn in the spring.  You don’t want to apply any weed controls to the lawn during spring green-up since this is when the grass is in its most fragile state.

    Q
Can MSM Turf Herbicide be used without hurting flowers when treating for wild onion and garlic in flower beds?
    A

No, MSM Turf Herbicide should only be applied to listed turf areas, and not in flower beds. You can refer to the product label for listed turf areas and for complete application instructions. For control of broadleaf weeds around flowers, you usually will need to hand pull or spot treat carefully using a non-selective herbicide.

    Q
What other chemicals can mix with MSM Turf Herbicide?
    A

MSM Turf Herbicide should be mixed with a nonionic surfactant. Otherwise, if you plan to tank-mix with another herbicide, then be sure you do a small jar test for compatibility first. I would also spot treat a small area of grass for tolerance since the turf will be more stressed in summer.

  • Asked by Marty from Pineville, La
    05/26/2021
    Q
How much MSM should be applied to kill spurweed/burweed in my lawn and the best time I'm 100% infected.
My lawn is probably San Augustine and bermuda grass
    A

MSM Turf Herbicide can be applied at 0.25 - 0.33 oz per Acre to treat spurweed. This would be safe on St. Augustine or Bermudagrass. You can view the full product label here.

If the lawn is very heavily infested, then you may consider clearing areas with a non-selective herbicide instead and putting in new seed or sod since it will be difficult to revive areas that have very weak turf.
