    Q
Is it to late to use Negate in March?
South Louisiana, Bermuda really starting to green up but POA Annua really hit hard this year, looking for something I can spot treat with right now.
    A

You can use Negate 37WG on your bermuda lawn to control poa annua (annual bluegrass). You can apply to either dormant grass or when the grass is fully green, but you do not want to apply a post-emergent like this while the grass is in transition, such as during Spring green-up.
Per the new supplemental label, for poa annua, you would use 1.5 oz per Acre. If you are treating an area smaller than 1 Acre, then the manufacturer recommends diluting the entire 1.5 oz bottle in a gallon of water first (not in your sprayer but in a separate container) since there are different sized prills in the concentrate. You would then use 3 oz of your mixed solution in at least 1 gallon of water per 1000 square feet. The remaining initial solution can be stored for 2-4 weeks, just be sure you agitate the solution before mixing and re-applying. You can reapply on your dormant turf after 4 weeks if the target weeds are still present.
Be sure that you use a dedicated sprayer to apply this product or that you clean thoroughly the entire spray equipment before using other products in it. Please refer to the label for complete instructions and make sure this product is labeled for use with your specific grass type.

    Q
I mixed Negate in 3 gallons of water instead of 1 gallon of water, if I use 9 oz mix per gallon will this still be as effective?
    A

Unfortunately, we are not able to confirm with the manufacturer if this mixture rate would still be effective for weed control therefore we would recommend to mix a new mixture of Negate 37WG Herbicide at the proper ratios for best results.

    Q
Will this be safe to use Negate 37WG Herbicide on 1 year old Bermuda SOD?
    A

Yes, when used as directed on the product label for Negate 37WG, you just do not want to apply to turf that is less than 1 year old.  This includes sodded or seeded turfs.

Can Negate 37WG Herbicide be applied if rainfall is expected that evening?

    Q
What's the shelf life for mixed solution of Negate 37WG Herbicide?
I only need to spray 5000 sf or 1/8th of the solution. How long can I store the remaining liquid?
    A

With Negate 37WG, it is necessary to mix the entire contents of the bottle into one gallon of water to create the correct suspended concentrate of the two active ingredients.  You will then take 3 ounces from that gallon of mixed solution and mix that into one gallon of water for spot treatments.  The original gallon you mixed the entire bottle into will be good for about a month.

    Q
Will Negate 37WG Herbicide kill Velvet Grass?
    A

Negate 37WG Herbicide is not labeled for velvet grass (yorkshire fog) and unfortunately we could not find a herbicide labeled to kill it. Since this perennial grass has a shallow root system, the most common method is to hand dig the velvet grass without harming your lawn. Another method is to spot treat the weeds directly with Roundup QuickPro and reseed any bare spots after 2 weeks.

    Q
How long do I have to wait after applying Negate 37WG Herbicide to mow the lawn?
I have dormant Bermuda and Zoysia. When they are both dormant, how long do I have to wait to apply Negate? Would it make a difference when they are not dormant?
    A

We recommend waiting a few days after application before mowing. You can use Negate 37WG  to either dormant grass or when the grass is fully green, but you do not want to apply a post-emergent like this while the grass is in transition, such as during Spring green-up.

    Q
Can Negate 37WG Herbicide be applied for crabgrass and other weeds if temperatures are reaching into the mid 80's?
    A

Negate 37WG Herbicide is best applied anytime when weeds are young and actively growing and air temperatures are between 60 to 85 degrees. A non ionic surfactant is recommended for best results however can cause temporary discoloration to turf if under stress from drought, heat, disease, etc.

We recommend applying in early morning or late afternoon/evening when temperatures are coolest for the day and the application has time to dry before to day time temperatures reach above 85 degrees.

Please review the product label for application rates and more information.

    Q
Couldn't you use 1/4 bottle of Negate 37WG Herbicide in 1/4 gallon of water which would provide the same ratio in which to pull the 3 oz from?

This product is a wettable granule formulation with 2 active ingredients, and since the granules of both active ingredients are in the concentrate, you would not be able to mix a small amount less than the 1.5 oz bottle. If you are using this product over less than 1 Acre, then you need to dilute the entire 1.5 oz bottle in 1 gallon of water. You will then take 3 ounces from that gallon of mixed solution and mix that into one gallon of water for spot treatments.

    Q
Can I use a mixed gallon of Negate 37WG Herbicide that has been sitting for a few months?
I mixed the entire contents of the bottle into one gallon of water to create the correct suspended concentrate( as per instructions). I did this about 10 months ago. I followed the instructions and did my spot treatments about 10 months ago. I read that after 4 weeks the mixture is not effective. Is this true? The concentrate mixture that I made has been sitting in a mix bottle in my garage( for 10 months). Can I use this mixture or is it useless?
    A

Any mixed solution of Negate 37WG Herbicide or any herbicide, insecticide or fungicide should be used with 24 hours as the active ingredient will beging to break down when suspended in water. When stored in it’s original container (concentrate) the shelf life is 3-5 years.

    Q
We just had a freeze here in Georgia last week (april 5th) and I applied Negate, was I too late in my application?
Temps were going up and down. We just had a surprising freeze last week. Yard is full of Poa, But Im in fear that I put the Negate down at the wrong time being that it is April Growing season.
    A

Negate 37WG is best applied when temperatures are above 55 degrees and below 85 degrees. Other than that there are no restrictions on application time because this product is a post emergent. You can use whenever you see the weeds in your yard and they are actively growing.
