You want to allow the vapors in an enclosed area to build up to a level that will be lethal to the insects that your are trying to eliminate. Opening and closing the doors to these enclosed spaces may result in poor efficacy. Depending on the insect you are trying to eliminate and the amount of things in the space you will most likely need to keep the Nuvan strips in place for about 2-4 weeks. It is best to make sure things are loosely packed into the areas to insure that the vapors can adequately circulate through the items that need to be treated. You should use one strip in a plastic trash bag or Rubbermaid bin and leave the items in the container with the strip for at least 2 weeks. As long as the bags themselves are not being opened during the treatment process, you can store the sealed bags in your closet with no problem. Pet bedding or clothing may want to be thrown in the washer or dryer just in case to make sure there are no lingering vapors or bugs on the items the pet/persons would come into close contact with.
Nuvan ProStrips would not be recommended to be used in this type of bag since it is not completely sealed and the vapors could escape.
Yes, you can place items into bags with Nuvan ProStrips for bed bug control. Be sure to pack the items loosely in the bags so that the vapors can circulate. You do not want to pack the bags too full. You will need to leave the items sealed in the bags for at least 2 weeks.
Unfortunately, we are not aware of an enclosure the size of a room that you could use for Nuvan ProStrips. Most customers will use plastic tubs or garbage bags with a Nuvan ProStrip inside each container or bag. You are permitted to use Nuvan ProStrips in an enclosed area such as a closet if the door stays closed and it is not a room where people spend four or more hours at a time, per the product label. (You should never use Nuvan Prostrips in living areas.)
The manufacturer of the Nuvan ProStrips advises against cutting the strips. We recommend that you do not overly pack bags/containers/totes too full with belongings so that the vapors can work around the items effectively. The bags can use a strip but must be tied to enclose the strip for effectiveness. You can apply a strip one per 100-200 cubic feet of space for 2 weeks to 4 months depending on the targeted pest.
We would not recommend using Nuvan Pro Strips in a vehicle or moving truck that will you and the individuals in your family will come in direct contact with. Please provide the targeted pest for alternate recommendations.
There should be no issue when the Nuvan ProStrips are used as directed. Be sure items are aired out for several hours after being treated to ensure no lingering vapors.

It is not suggested to use Nuvan ProStrips in the crawlspace. We do recommend that the moisture/standing water issue be addressed first. Technically, yes, if applied according to the label instructions, Nuvan ProStrips can be used in a car (with all windows and doors fully closed) without posing any risk to nearby cars or buildings. Nuvan strips must be kept in a closed unused car for a minimum of 2 weeks in order to be effective. You should also use a product such as Bedlam or Sterifab to treat all of the cracks and crevices where the vapor may not be able to penetrate.
To use Nuvan ProStrips in a shed you would have to completely seal it and leave it unused for at least 2 weeks to kill anything that could be in there. We are not sure what effect it would have on the combs/frames in the future as this is not an intended use of the product. We would recommend contacting the manufacturer directly for the best advice, AMVAC at 888-462-6822 to help answer your question.
Yes, you certainly could put your laptop and other electronics sealed in a bag with a Nuvan ProStrip. They will need to be sealed for 2-4 weeks and it is best to make sure things are loosely packed to insure that the vapors can adequately circulate through the items that need to be treated. Typically you want to keep stored items with Nuvan ProStrips sealed for at least 2 weeks. Most clothing moth eggs hatch in about 10 days, so you are trying to catch newly hatching eggs and adults during that time. If you can store items for longer, then you decrease risk of missing any immature moths.
Nuvan ProStrips are not labeled for bird mites or use in the open spaces/rooms of the home/attic. We do recommend that you consult with your local cooperative extension office entomologist for a pest id/recommendations for those areas.
The Nuvan ProStrips are not individually wrapped. There are 12 strips inside the foil packet/envelope. If all the strips contained in the foil packet aren’t used, contain the remaining unused strips in the foil packet. Squeeze out as much air as possible from the foil packet, fold over the opened end at least twice and seal with tape to sufficiently protect your unused Nuvan Prostrips. The shelf life of Nuvan Prostrips may be diminished by as much as a month or more if left unused. It is not recommended to store Prostrips in zip lock plastic bags. The efficacy of Nuvan Prostrips is better protected in a foil-lined packet.
Nuvan ProStrips are not labeled for lice. We do carry products that can be used for lice control.
You can use the Nuvan ProStrips to treat a recliner. You need to make sure that you are able to seal the recliner in some kind of plastic or container and seal it. You need to make sure you leave enough room for the vapor to flow throughout the recliner, while sealed, and leave it sealed for 4 weeks. Be sure to let the recliner air out for a few days before you use it again. A more thorough way of treating would be to use Bedlam Insecticide Aerosol, spray the tufts, folds, seams, cracks and crevices where bed bugs can hide. You would need to do this every 7-10 days until you go 30 days without any bites or activity. We recommend reading over our Bed Bug Treatment Guide for more information.
