Details

NyGuard IGR gets to the root cause of chronic insect infestations - the eggs, larvae or nymphs - and prevents them from maturing into reproductive adults thereby controlling future infestations. NyGuard IGR will cause morphological anomalies or changes and disrupt the expected insects' state of development, leading to sterility or death. When adults are present, NyGuard is commonly used in combination with a non-IGR insecticide. This method results in rapid eradication of adults and deposits a base level of NyGuard IGR. Since this product has a long residual, it remains in place for up to seven (7) months to actively disrupt the development of any immature stages that have yet to appear, or which were not susceptible to the insecticide product used to control adult insects.

Features:

  • NyGuard IGR has the broadest spectrum of insects on its label.
  • NyGuard IGR is 10 times more active than Gentrol.
  • NyGuard IGR is effective both indoors and outdoors.
  • NyGuard IGR may be used in food and non-food areas.
  • NyGuard IGR keeps working for seven months.

Directions:

Apply NyGuard as a diluted spray or ULV/fogger to prevent eggs, larvae and nymphs from maturing into reproductive adults. Apply NyGuard in combination with a non-IGR adulticide to knockdown and kill existing adult populations while breaking the cycle of your toughest insect pests.

Sprayed for fleas got prehatched mosquito's

    By Norma on 07/10/2012

    Verified Purchase

We used a combination of Nyguard and Talstar 1 early in June. We got an immediate kill on fleas, and other nasty bugs outside, but I wasn't expecting the destruction of the majority of the Mosquito eggs. I have lived in this house in Florida for 21 years. For 21 years I had to stay inside much of the time, at dusk especially but also all day and all night because our area had so many mosquitos. A lot didn't seem to be stopped by repellants either. We had a long dry spell and then about a week and a half after we sprayed, it begain to rain some every day, then it rained all day for several days. We needed it badly but I wasn't looking forward to being swarmed by mosquitos. I was astonished! We have had very few even at dusk, and those who managed to hatch are strange. They fly slow enough so that I can kill them before they ever land. It is like they are can't navigate normally. This is the first summer I have not gotten even one bite. I have been able to enjoy the outside again for the first time ever at this house. I reordered the same items and intend to spray one more time before the month of July is over. Just some advice to those who have houses that back up to woods, we sprayed the wooded area as well as the yard. We sprayed our neighbors yard and the small wooded area behind her house. A lot of mosquitos breed under damp leaves that pile up on the ground here in Florida. Well not anymore at may house! We even sprayed across the road in the brush. Good thing too, because they discovered the mosquitos were carrying West Nile Virus in our area. Best thing I ever did in the rhelm of insect control!

    I am blown away!

    By John on 07/31/2012

    Verified Purchase

This is the very best pest control I have ever used! I had an issue with fleas in my dog pen. I could not get them killed out for nothing until I was told about NyGuard. I used every product I could think of and spent a small fortune! A flea or two would attach itself to me when I would clean my dog pen, and next thing I knew is they were in my house too! NOT ANYMORE! This NyGuard mixed with Demize, totally killed out the fleas...inside and out in 24hrs! And they stayed gone. Now I don't even need flea collars for my dogs! Thanks for such a great product. Send me a hat or something so I can advertise for you, because your product is the best on the market...hands down! I am going to purchase more of this product so I never run out. I NEVER toot someones horn unless they deserve it...and NyGuard deserves it! So, TOOT TOOT!

    A true KNOCKOUT

    By David on 09/15/2011

    Verified Purchase

After fleas had set up house in ours we attempted to get rid of them in the usual manners (fogging and flea powder). We got desperate and were about to burn down the house (not really) and then I found this site. What a life, and house, saver. Less than 2 hours after application the fleas stopped biting and we have never had a problem since. I use it on my balcony for season long wasp and spider control and swear by it. You can't miss when you pick this product.

    This Product Works!!!!

    By Marianne on 06/07/2011

I purchased this product as a safer product to control indoor and outdoor insects (mosquitoes, fleas, flies, roaches, ants, etc....). Nothing bothers me inside or outside after 3 months!!! It's a little slow to start, but once you get it applied around your house and inside your house, your problems are over!!! I had continual repeat flea issues from my Welsh Corgi. I treated the inside of the house and also treated the outside areas where she laid. NO MORE FLEAS!!!! And it does wonders in keeping mosquitoes under control, too!!!!

    Excellent product

    By Li on 05/08/2013

The person who was talking about how her cats still have fleas weeks later does not know how this product works. It stops the next generation from growing into viable adults. If you have fleas, you have to do a multi-angled approach and not just spray & pray. Seriously, if you don't know what you're doing. Don't buy the product. I've used this for years on all sorts of issues and it's as close to a magic wand as you're gonna get.

Q
Can you give me an amount of NyGuard IGR per gallon of water for mosquitoes over a 2 acre area please?

I'm using a mist blower to apply with bifenthrin.

A

For outdoor pests, apply NyGuard IGR at the rate of 4 ml in one gallon of water to treat 1,000 square feet. Use up to 12 ml per 1,000 square feet for insect populations that are difficult to control or in conditions that make it difficult to get control of target pests.

Q
Will Nyguard IGR help with my flea infestation?

Flea infestation ongoing for three years have sprayed with Malathion still got fleas. Area is damp lots of vegetation and leaves, will your IGR work here and how much will I need?

A

Nyguard IGR is labeled to stop the life cycle of fleas indoors and outdoors. It can be added to an insecticide and applied at the same time. The mixing rate is 3-4 ml per gallon of water.

Malathion is not specifically labeled for fleas so we are unable to provide advice on that.

Please check out our Flea Guide for tips on how to treat for fleas.

Q
Is there a difference between NyGuard IGR vs Precor vs Gentrol in terms of effectiveness?

I'm using it for indoors only for mostly roaches.

A

Precor IGR is only labeled for fleas. Gentrol IGR has a more broad label and will stop the life cycle of various insects, including roaches and stored product pests. Gentrol has a unique movement to it which makes is extremely effective for listed insects. This is mixed with an adulticide and applied for roaches. NyGuard IGR has a broad label of insects and can be used outdoors or indoors.

Q
I just sprayed NyGuard IGR 2 days ago and it lightly rained for about 10 days ago. Do I need to reapply?
A

No, NyGuard IGR Concentrate is rainfast after about 6 hours therefore if it lightly rained 2 days later, the application should be fine. Typically, NyGuard IGR will hold up for a couple months in outdoor elements between treatments. IGR’s should be mixed with an insecticide for complete control of the insects as IGR’s only stop the reproductive cycle of insects, it does not kill them. The insecticide, depending on the product would need to be reapplied approx every 30 days. Refer to the insecticide product label for retreatment intervals.

Q
What insecticide do I use with NyGuard IGR for fleas?

So we have a flea infestation in and outside the house. So I would need this to hold up in the sun as well as be safe to use in the home. We have carpet and tile in our home.

A

You could mix either FenvaStar EcoCap or Onslaught Insecticide with NyGuard IGR for flea control outdoors and indoors. You could also choose to use NyGuard Plus indoors; this is a ready-to-use product that includes the insecticide, IGR, and a deodorizer in a can that is easy to apply indoors and dries quickly. Please see our Flea Treatment Guide for more tips on treating this pest.

Q
Pivot 10 and Bifen I/T or Nyguard IGR?

I was kinda set on a mix on pivot 10 and bifen it to help with mosquitos, various outdoor flies and gnats, and ticks. But now I'm reading about NyGuard IGR. We live next to the woods and have a pool. What do you recommend? I would like to mix a few things and get it all done together because I have a 30g towable sprayer and wand.

A

NyGuard IGR and Pivot 10 contain the same active ingredient so are comparable, either can be mixed with insecticides like Bifen IT.

Q
Can you give me the per gallon mixing ratios for Suspend Polyzone, ExciteR, and NyGuard IGR for fleas?
A

Outdoor flea treatments with Suspend Polyzone, ExciteR and NyGuard IGR would be mixed as follows: 0.5- 1 oz of Suspend Polyzone, 0.5 - 1 oz of ExciteR, and 4-8 ml of NyGuard IGR per gallon of water you mix up. Any mixed solution should be used within 24 hours of combining in your tank. Flea treatments are typically done on a 14-30 day basis depending on severity in the yard.

Q
Can I use NyGuard IGR outside if I am using Orcon Flea Destroyer?

Just wondering if NyGuard will kill my nematodes or stunt their growth. If they can be used together in what is the correct order? NyGuard first or nematodes?

A

Per the product manufacturer if used togther the Nyguard IGR would kill the Orcon Flea Destroyer nematodes. If you are using them for an outdoor application, you would want to use the Nyguard IGR and then wait 14 days and then apply the nematodes to the area. For an indoor application the Nyguard IGR has a much longer residual time which is five months, so you would need to either wait that time period or use the nematodes without the Nyguard indoors.
