    Q
What is the correct shelf life of NyGuard IGR? The NyGuard IGR Bulletin states "12 months closed in original packaging" but other Q&A's from DoMyOwn state 3 years.
    A

We have confirmed with MGK, the manufacturer of NyGuard IGR that the correct shelf life is 3 years when stored in the original container out of the extreme heat or freezing temperatures. MGK has advised they had an error on that bulletin and will get it updated as well.

    Q
How much should I use in a thermal fogger with 1 gal capacity
Currently using Masterline 4-4 as adultcide. 1:7 ratio
    A
We are going to refer you to the manufacturer for this answer as it only states on the product label that it can be used in a ULV(cold fogger) or similar misting equipment. MGK will better be able to tell you if it can be used in a propane/thermal fogger and how to dilute it if so. You can reach MGK at 1-800-645-6466.

  • Asked by Pravisha from California

    Q
Safe for use with Ortho Home Defense?
I've recently been battling a roach invasion in my new apartment; they appeared suddenly a month after I moved in. I bought the 1 gallon ready-to-use Ortho Home Defense from a local store and while it's not completely useless, I wanted to know if I can add Nyguard straight to the bottle to further restrict these little buggers from driving me crazy? Thank you in advance!
    A
We know that the NyGuard IGR is safe to be used with any insecticide, however we do not know what the proper mix would be if you were able to use it within the same container as the Ortho Home Defense since we do not carry that product. You may want to contact the manufacturer of the Ortho directly to see if they can make a recommendation of their product to be used with an IGR or any other similar product.

    Q
Can I use Nyguard IGR for thrips?
I have thrips inside of my house. Will this IGR be effective against them? I was hoping to mix it with Bifen IT.
    A

No, Nyguard IGR is not labeled for thrips. We would recommend just using the Bifen IT around the baseboards, cracks and crevices in the home. See our Thrip Control page for more tips about treating for this pest.

  • Asked by Carproblems from Orange County, Ca
    04/20/2016
    Q
My car was treated with 10mL Nyguard/1L Pyrocide for German roaches. Will more than 1 application be necessary?
Exterminator mixed 10mL of Nyguard with 1L of Pyrocide to spay my car for German Roaches. I waited 48 hours before returning to my car, removed dead roaches...(ew) - Is this one application enough? How long until I can detail the interior of my car? Is it likely the roaches are still in my car?
    A

Unfortunately it really is not possible for us to say whether all of the roaches are gone at this point or not.  It usually does take several applications of any product for complete eradication if a roach infestation is severe.  Sanitation is key in treating for roaches so it would be advisable to go ahead and clean/detail the car interior thoroughly now and make sure to keep it free from any food, crumbs, or trash.  If further treatment is necessary, we really do not recommend using pesticides where they may come into contact with your skin (such as car upholstery) so it would be best to use a roach bait stations such as Maxforce FC Roach Bait Stations or the Advion Roach Bait Arenas. The roaches will eat the bait and share it with any other roaches and this will help eliminate the infestation.

  • Asked by Debra from Jesup
    05/24/2017
    Q
Can I use NyGuard IGR outside if I am using Orcon Flea Destroyer?
Just wondering if NyGuard will kill my nematodes or stunt their growth. If they can be used together in what is the correct order? NyGuard first or nematodes?
    A

Per the product manufacturer if used togther the Nyguard IGR would kill the Orcon Flea Destroyer nematodes. If you are using them for an outdoor application, you would want to use the Nyguard IGR and then wait 14 days and then apply the nematodes to the area. For an indoor application the Nyguard IGR has a much longer residual time which is five months, so you would need to either wait that time period or use the nematodes without the Nyguard indoors.

    Q
What insecticide do I use with NyGuard IGR for fleas?
So we have a flea infestation in and outside the house. So I would need this to hold up in the sun as well as be safe to use in the home. We have carpet and tile in our home.
    A

You could mix either FenvaStar EcoCap or Onslaught Insecticide with NyGuard IGR for flea control outdoors and indoors. You could also choose to use NyGuard Plus indoors; this is a ready-to-use product that includes the insecticide, IGR, and a deodorizer in a can that is easy to apply indoors and dries quickly. Please see our Flea Treatment Guide for more tips on treating this pest.

Can NyGuard IGR be mixed with household cleaners?
    A

No, NyGuard IGR cannot be mixed with household cleaners.  If you were to mix this product with a cleaner, that would change its formulation, and it would not work as it's intended to work.  NyGuard IGR should be applied separately with a sprayer.

  • Asked by Michelle from St. Johns, Fl
    04/25/2018
    Q
Can you vacuum after applying Nyguard & Onslaught Fastcap?
Is it okay to vacuum baseboards and steam mop tile floors after applying Nyguard & Onslaught Fastcap inside the home? And how often can I reapply them for silverfish issues?
    A

Once your application of NyGuard IGR and Onslaught FastCap has been made and you have allowed it time to fully dry then it is safe to vacuum over those areas.  If you steam mop or clean with a cleanser it will remove the insecticides and therefore be ineffective.  You may reapply the NyGuard IGR and Onslaught FastCap every 30 days.
