    Q
Why is it imperative to vacuum 14 consecutive days after treatment with NyGuard Plus?
    A

It is necessary to vacuum after applying NyGuard Plus (or any other flea treatment) because vacuuming pulls fleas and eggs to the surface of carpeting and also provides the stimulation the pupa (immature fleas) need to exit their eggs and expose themselves to the insecticides that have been applied.  Please take a moment to look over our Flea Control Guide for more information on treating and preventing this pest.

    Q
Will NyGuard Plus treat the house for demodex gatoi mites/sarcoptic mites?
Can I treat walls and base boards, kitty litter area with this for possibly demodex gatoi mites( highly contagious)? Will an IGR work on these mites? I can't find life cycle on demodex gatoi mites. I had a pest control treat for bed bugs and mites. I'm still getting itchy and bites on humans and pets. Vet medicine not working on cats.
    A

Unfortunately, there are not really many products on the market that are actually labeled for sarcoptic mites specifically. Steri-Fab is labeled for mites in general and will very likely kill sarcoptic mites. Steri-Fab has an insecticide and an alcohol base. This combination allows for a fast kill of just about any insect that Steri-Fab is sprayed on plus a super fast drying time. Steri-Fab is NOT applied to animals or humans. You should check with your vet and physican for additional recommendations.

    Q
    Will NyGuard Plus kill Chiggers?
We are being bitten by chiggers. I would like to spray our carpet. Will this work or do you recommend something else?
    A

NyGuard Plus is not labeled for chiggers.  Onslaught would be a better choice for Chigger control.

  • Asked by Chase from Knoxville, Tn
    11/24/2017
    Q
How does NyGuard Plus compare to Precor IGR and its ingredients?
    A

NyGuard Plus contains the insect growth regulator (IGR) pyriproxyfen along with insecticide, so it is an "all-in-one" product.  Precor IGR contains an IGR only and would need to be mixed with an insecticide.

  • Asked by Julie from Fort Pierce
    01/19/2018
    Q
    Does NyGuard kill tick eggs?
I was told by the office of our pest control company it does not and needed to be reapplied every 7-10 days, however, the technician said it did and you spray every 30 days.
    A

It acts on the immature life stages of insects and prevents those insects from becoming full functioning and reproducing adults.   By breaking the reproductive cycle of these insects,  NyGuard helps reduce overall insect populations.

  • Asked by Christine from Long Island, Ny

    Q
Does NyGuard Plus protect against all ticks, even dog ticks?
Does this work on American dog ticks? I live on Long Island where ticks are a large problem. Does this work on most if not all variety of US ticks? Also does this kill all stages of tick life? It's listed specifically that it kills flea eggs as larva but does it also kill tick eggs and nymph?
    A

The NyGuard Plus is labeled for tick species in general and when used per the label instructions within your home where ticks may be present or would look to hide it will control them as well as any fleas in the area. While its not specifically labeled to control the eggs and nymphs its technology is such that you can effectively get rid of the entire population in the home as long as the proper treatment steps are being taken.

When applying NyGuard Plus as a fine mist, per the product label, it will dry within 30 minutes to an hour.

    Q
Can NyGuard Plus be sprayed on the bed like the mattress and around edges?
    A

Nyguard Plus is restricted to apply only to the mattress as a spot treatment to seams, edges, buttons, and tufts of the bed. Do not apply directly to pillows, bed linens, or cloths. Do not saturate the mattress and do not treat the entire surface area of the mattress. Allow the mattress to dry thoroughly before replacing pillows and/or bed linens.

I have heated baseboards around most of the house perimeter. Can I spray underneath it even though we're still using the heaters?

    Q
Can I use Nyguard plus in my car for carpet beetles?
    A

NyGuard Plus is labeled to be used in some modes of transportation but not cars specifically.  It could work but it would take time. Though It would be extremely odd to have carpet beetles in your car because they must have a food source that is of animal origin to survive and most cars do not have such a source.

    Q
How long does it take after the second treatment of NyGuard Plus to see effects?

NyGuard Plus should be applied once every two weeks until the fleas are gone (vacuuming daily). It will take a minimum of two applications (two weeks apart) but may require more applications at these intervals depending on the level of infestation.

    Q
If my house was sprayed with Crossfire 2 days ago, can I spray NyGuard or will that neutralise Crossfire
    A

Crossfire has a residual of up to 30 days so we do not suggest applying NyGuard Plus to the same treated areas. The products are also not labeled for the same pests. Crossfire is labeled only for bedbugs and NyGuard Plus is labeled for fleas, carpet beetles, ticks, lice, dust mites and cockroaches. You may want to discuss the treatment with the company that is treating the structure also so that everyone has the same treatment schedule with residual products for the most effective results.

  • Asked by Beth from Fresno, Ca
    02/18/2020
    Q
Does NyGuard Plus kill scabies in classrooms?
    A

No, NyGuard Plus is not labeled for scabies. Scabies mites live only on/in the skin, and we do not carry anything to treat humans. Most folks need to visit their doctor to receive the medication needed to get rid of scabies. You may spray your furniture with a product such as Steri-fab to kill anything on furniture, although treating these areas for scabies is usually not necessary as they do not live long off of their host.

Are there respiratory concerns with NyGuard Plus?
Since this is a pesticide, are there any respiratory precautions when using this product? Obviously not spraying it and immediately inhaling it. Do I need a mask or something?

Typically a mask would not be required when applying a product like NyGuard Plus as long as it is being used correctly per label instructions. If you felt a mask was needed you are certainly welcome to wear one if it increases your comfort and safety level when you apply.
