  • Asked by Nick from Kingman, Az
    03/14/2019
    Q
Will Permethrin SFR 36.8% kill scorpions, spiders, etc out of my house & yard?
I just moved out to the far outskirts of the Kingman, AZ area. We keep our house and yard immaculate and do not want any "surprise" guests.
    A

Permethrin SFR 36.8% will kill scorpions that come in contact with it. However, a more effective product would be Onslaught Fastcap which is specifically designed for scorpions and other insects that are harder to kill. Onslaught FastCap is a unique insecticide that has an encapsulated pyrethroid plus prallethrin for quick knockdown. The encapsulation really helps products to last longer in the heat and sunlight in desert environments better than the Permethrin SFR would.

  • Asked by Sam from Florida
    04/03/2019
    Q
What class is Permethrin? Can I use this as a Talstar resistance alternate?
I do not want to use only one insecticide all season for control of chinch bug and sod web worm (Talstar). Bifenthrin appears to be losing effectiveness on these insects, is Permethrin the same class as Talstar?
    A

Permethrin SFR 36.8% is a synthetic pyrethrin like bifenthrin so they would work comparably.  Dominion 2L would be a good option to use for chinch bug control and is a neonicotinoid and systemic so is absorbed by the roots that these bugs feed on.  Best applied before they are active so it has time to be absorbed.

  • Asked by Michael from Sumter
    05/23/2019
    Q
How do I use Permethrin SFR 36.8% for mole crickets?
Bad mole cricket in yard killing grass
    A

When using Permethrin SFR 36.8% for mole crickets the product label states you use 0.4 – 0.8 fl. oz. of Permethrin SFR in 4 to 25 gallons of water per 1000 square feet. Use the higher rate for fast knockdown and increased residual control. If you’re using the higher rate of 0.8 oz per 1000 sq ft, that would require 35.2 ounces for an acre. Dense or excessive (greater than 3 inches) lawn height and arid conditions may require higher volume application rates. Repeat application if necessary. Application in combination with compatible surfactants or wetting agents may enhance penetration.

Is it safe to use Permethrin SFR near hummingbird feeders?

  • Asked by Leon from Edmonton Canada
    06/19/2019
    Q
Can I spray Permethrin SFR 36.8% right on a black ant hill in my back yard?
I have 3 or 4 black ant hills in my back yard and I want to spray them with ( sfr ) should I spray and then stir the hill and spray again or just spray and not stir up the hill.
    A

We recommend using 1 2/3 fl. oz of Permethrin SFR 36.8% per gallon of water for ant mounds. The label recommends that you treat each  by applying 1-2 gallons of emulsion to each mound area by sprinkling the mound until it is wet and treat a 4 foot diameter circle around the mound  so the ants do not move their mounds. Use the higher volume for mounds larger than 12". For best results, apply in cool weather, such as in early morning or late evening hours, but not in the heat of the day.

  • Asked by Nathan from Edmond, Ok

    Q
Is Permethrin SFR 36.8% safe to treat areas such as horse pastors? Will the grass be edible after it is dry/
    A

Permethrin SFR? should not be used on pastures where horses or any livestock graze and grass cannot be consumed after dried. Very few products are listed as safe to use in grazing areas. Essentria All Purpose is one of our top products that will not harm the animals and will cover all the same insects the Permethrin SFR covers on its label.

  • Asked by Alice from Shoals
    05/26/2018
    Q
How much Permethrin 10% is needed for tick control in my yard?
    Is it safe around pets?
    A

We would recommend using Permethrin SFR 36.8% at the rate of 1 2/3 oz. per gallon water for ticks. It would also be a good idea to incorporate an insect growth regulator (IGR) such as Archer IGR for complete control of ticks. All of these products are pet safe if used as directed.  Pets need to be kept out of the area being treated during application and until everything is completely dry.

Please look over our Tick Control Guide for more information on treating and preventing this pest.

  • Asked by Jean
    06/18/2018
    Q
We bought Permethrin SFR 36.8% treat for fleas in our yard, do we water the grass immediately after the application?
    A

No, you do not need to water the lawn after applying Permethrin SFR 36.8%  since you are already using 4 to 25 gallons of water every 1,000 sq ft. The water is acting as the carrier – Per the prodcut label Mix 0.4 – 0.8 fl. oz. of Permethrin SFR in 4 to 25 gallons of water per 1000 square feet.Use the higher rate for fast knockdown and increased residual control. Dense or excessive (greater than 3 inches) lawn height and arid conditions may require higher volume application rates. Repeat application if necessary. Application in combination with compatible surfactants or wetting agents may enhance penetration

Permethrin SFR needs to be down for at least 6 hours prior to rain for it to be rainfast but preferably up to 24hrs.

  • Asked by Teresa from Walland Tn

    Q
Is there a temperature outside in which it is too hot to spray Permethrin SFR?
I have a flea infestation that I can't get under control under a large porch. I'd like to know the best time and temperature to use. Thanks in advance!
    A

Permethrin SFR can be applied anytime insects are active. We would recommend treating in the morning or later in the evening in the warmer months. This product is a great product choice for treatment outdoors for fleas and ticks. Adding an IGR like Archer IGR impedes the insect's reproductive cycle. These products should be applied once every two weeks.  Please take a look at our Flea Control Guide for more information.
