    Q
I have Cottonwood borer's in my trees. How can I get rid of them?
    A
Applying insecticidal soaps like Bonide Insecticidal soap. can help control the larvae, and insecticides like Permethrin SFR can be used to prevent the adults from laying eggs. Saturating the the soil at the tree’s base with insecticide is also recommended to kill the grubs still burrowing there.

  • Asked by S. from Lebanon, Oregon
    06/03/2014
    Q
see nothing about the small 30ml separate portion of the bottle.
Is this a dual mix, in addition to adding the water to the sprayer? I am interested in killing mosquitos and flys.
    A
The Permethrin SFR as well as most other insecticides on the market has a built in measuring reservoir on the bottle for determining how much product you need to use per gallon without needing an additional measuring device for the product. There is no other product that has to be mixed with the Permethrin SFR in the water to make it work or effective.

  • Asked by Robt. from Hot Springs Village, Arkansas
    06/19/2014
    Q
How to exterminate chiggers on decks, loose rock yards, grass areas adjacent to golf course
What is the best method & material to control Chiggers in central Arkansas? Most of the yard is covered with 1-2" diameter loose rock about 2" thick. The wooden deck 1-3' off ground. I tried High Yield Turf Ranger Insect Control Granules & Bayer Advanced Complete Insect Killer Concentrate (3oz/gal).
    A
Permethrin SFR 36.8% is not labeled for chiggers. Onslaught insecticide is labeled for chiggers and can be used both indoors and outdoors as a broadcast spray. Treatments for chiggers should begin in May and could need to continue through the summer as new chiggers move into the area. Treating the entire lawn is of little benefit because chiggers avoid direct sunlight and normally will not infest areas that are mowed or otherwise well maintained. Focus treatment on the unkempt areas of the lawn and lawn edge. You can also use Onslaught to do a barrier treatment around the outside of your home and in your crawl space to stop pests from moving indoors.

  • Asked by Leah from Warrior, Al
    06/21/2014
    Q
What is mixture ratio to spray cattle for flies with Permethrin SFR?
    Want to mix 2 gallons.
    A
The product label for the Permethrin SFR gives a few different rates for applying to cattle.

For Horn flies, face flies, stable flies, house flies, horse flies, deer flies, black flies, eye gnats,
mange mites, scabies mites, ticks, lice and sheep keds you would use 4 fl. oz. to 25 gallons water (treats 50-100 head).
That breaks down to about .16 fl oz per 1 gallon.
For Horn flies, face flies, stable flies, ear ticks and lice you would use 4 fl. oz. to 2½ gallons
    water (treats 64-80 head).
Please refer to the product label for complete instructions for your specific application.

    Q
I'm having a flea infestation would Permethrin SFR 36.8% help and how often should I repeat these treatments?
flea infestation in my back yard...we live a wooded area lot of squirrels and birds. We've applied about 3 weeks ago but still don't seem to see a difference ..we used the 1.0% 5gallons
    A
Permethrin SFR 36.8% would be a great product choice for the treatment indoors and/or outdoors for fleas and ticks. Please add Archer IGR to impede the insects reproductive cylce. The products should be applied once every two weeks. We recommend mowing the lawn one to two days prior to the initial application. A minimum of two applications and up to four depending on the level of fleas. If you need anything else, please let us know.

    Q
    Will this kill grasshoppers?
I am looking to treat 9 acres of pasture for grasshoppers, chiggers and ticks.
    A

No, Permethrin SFR 36.8% is not labeled for grasshoppers or chiggers, but it is labeled for ticks.

We would recommend using Bifen IT. It is labeled for grasshoppers, chiggers and ticks as well as various other pests. It can be broadcast across a lawn but is not labeled for use in pastures.

  • Asked by Bob from New Prague, Mn
    07/07/2014
    Q
I purchased permethrin for mosquito control. I am confused about the dilution rate.
    What do you recommend?
    A
If you purchased Permethrin SFR it is only labeled for mosquito control on livestock and in livestock premises like barns. For yard treatments of mosquitoes our top product is the Bifen IT, which is also a residual concentrate you mix with water and spray in the target areas of the property. You mix Bifen at the rate of 1oz per gallon of water and spray it roughly every 30 days or so outdoors for control.

  • Asked by Robert from Groton, Ct
    07/07/2014
    Q
Is the Permethrin SFR oil based? I am looking for something that will not wash away with rain or sprinkler.
This will be used as a tick control agent, including Lone Star and Deer ticks.
    A
The Permethrin SFR is petroleum/oil based and will hold up the outdoor elements roughly 30 days which is roughly the same time as most of our other tick control products that are water based as well. To get further control over ticks its highly recommended to use an IGR (insect birth control) like NyGuard IGR in the same mixture to stop the reproductive cycle of the ticks on your property. NyGuard is specifically formulate to be mixed with any insecticide and will hold up to the outdoor elements for normally roughly 4 months.

  • Asked by Dee from Texas
    07/11/2014
    Q
Permethrin SFR suggested for use against Bed Bugs?
A local pest control supplier suggested use of Permethrin SFR in conjunction with NyGuard to combat our Bed bug problem. I see after purchase that "bed bugs" is not listed on the bottle. Have others had success with this product for this use or might the sales person have been misinformed. I don't want to waste my time or money using this product if I will not be expected to see results. Thinking of switching to Temprid SC or Transport Mikron after reading up on your website. If I did switch to either of those- could you recommend which has better success and would I still be able to use the NyGuard in the solution mix? Thanks!
    A
We do not recommend to apply Permthrin indoors at all or for bed bugs. We recommend using one of our Bed Bug kits. It really takes more than one product to eradicate bed bugs. This is why we have specially put our kits together.

  • Asked by Shell from Grayville, Illinois
    07/16/2014
    Q
How long after dog is dipped in Permethrin solution can it be given a regular bath?
    A
It is recommended to wait two weeks after the treatment of Permethrin SFR 36.8% to bathe your dog or you will simply remove the insecticide. Permethrin can be reapplied every two weeks if needed so we would recommend that you bathe your dog prior to the Permethrin SFR 36.8%.

  • Asked by Tiffany from Shepherdsville, Ky
    07/29/2014
    Q
Would this product be safe to spray around an organic garden?
I have an organic garden, but I also have a severe tick problem in my fenced in yard. I only live on about 3/4 an acre but there are deer ticks all over it, and I have small children. I want to spray something in/around my yard, which would be around my garden, but not on the plants in the garden beds. Is this safe, or is there a chance that this will get down into the soil and come into contact with my plant's roots?
    A
Permethrin SFR 36.8% is labeled for ticks and can be used in your lawn. The product should not be used within the drip line of the garden. We normally recommend using it at least 2-3 feet away. Once the product is dry, it is safe for your children to go into the lawn. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.
