Permethrin SFR 36.8% is not really selective, so it is possible that it could kill beneficials such as earthworms if they were to come in contact with a treated area.

  • Asked by Tara from Pearl River, La
    06/07/2016
    Q
Can I use Suspend SC or Talstar P to treat a poultry house for lice and mites?
Does Suspend or Talstar work in killing and/or preventing lice in an outdoor chicken coup?
    A

Talstar P is not labeled for lice. Suspend SC is labeled for lice, however, it is not labeled for use inside of chicken coops.

We would recommend using something like Permethrin SFR in the area. It is labeled for lice and mites in poultry houses. The mixing ratio is 1 2/3 fl. oz. of product per gallon of water.

    Q
Does Permethrin SFR kill fly larvae/maggots? What is the best way to apply this to carpet?
Considering it does not come in powder form.
    A

Permethrin SFR will not kill maggots. For maggots, try and locate the source of the maggots and clean and eliminate the breeding site for the flies. Permethrin SFR would be applied with any standard pump sprayer across carpet after mixing with water and following the instructions on the product label.

  • Asked by Eric from Newton, Pa
    08/22/2015
    Q
Can I use Permethrin SFR 36.8% to control horse flies around our lawn and shrubs, similar to mosquito spraying?
    A

Permethrin SFR 36.8% is only labeled for fly control as a perimeter treatment or for animal quarters such as barns. A more appropriate product would be Talstar P. You should locate and eliminate the breeding source of the flies, since control will be very difficult relying on sprays. An easy and effective tool is the Flies Be Gone Fly Trap, which catches thousands of flies from up to 100 yards away. This trap is disposable and should be hung about 30 feet away from the house or other areas where you spend time. Please see our Flies Pest Guide for more information.

  • Asked by Nick from New York
    06/07/2017
    Q
Can I use Permethrin SFR around pigs?
I am raising pigs and plan on putting them in a new area that is mixed woodlands. The area is teaming with ticks so I was going to spray the area before moving them with permethrin. Will it be safe to allow them into this area to graze, etc. How long after spraying? Also if I want to dip or apply permethrin to the pigs what would be the correct concentration?
    A

Permethrin SFR can be used in animal housing areas containing swine and for use on swine. Per the product label, you would use 4 oz in 25 gallons of water to treat 50-100 head of swine, and thoroughly wet or dip animals including ears. You must allow 5 days between the last treatment and slaughter.

Permethrin SFR is not labeled for use on grazing areas. For this treatment, we would recommend Essentria All Purpose Insecticide.

  • Asked by Jay from Pa
    07/24/2012
    Q
Does Permethrin SFR really use 6+ oz to 1 gallon a t 2% like the label states?
also is there any downfall to using the produst at it strongest?
    A
It really does take 6 2/3 fl oz per gallon of water to make the 2% dilution ratio of Permethrin SFR. For most applications however you will only need to use the .5% dilution (1 2/3 fl oz per gallon water) for general use. The higher rate is normally used in places where folks are doing a termite treatment but cannot use a large volume of water. What will you be using the product for?

  • Asked by M from Phoenix, Az
    10/25/2017
    Q
How long does a treatment of Permethrin SFR last?
I will be using it on the exterior of my home in Arizona for arachnids and wonder how often I would need to retreat the area to remain pest free.
    A

Since Permethrin SFR is an oil-based product it is going to be more prone to break down in the extreme heat and sunlight in your area faster than other products. You will likely have to reapply the Permethrin every 30 days to keep insect populations under control and have a strong residual still on the surface. We would suggest when you get ready to order more product in the future going with something better designed for your environment like Cy Kick CS or Onslaught FastCap which will also likely give a better control over arachnids and other pests they feed on due to their encapsulation.

  • Asked by David from Aransas Pass
    05/17/2014
    Q
How do i dilute Permethrin SFR for flea control in yard?
I'm having trouble understanding your recomendations for flea control. One part of the instructions states 1&2/3 ounces per gallon of water. Then it goes on to mention flea control for the YARD .4 to .8 ounces per gallon of water. We just sprayed our back yard for flea infestation with 1&2/3 ouncers per gallon. When would one only use .4 to .8 ounces per gallon? Would that be for subsequent monthly "maintenance" only?
    A
You can use any of the rates that you mentioned for flea control. The most common rates used for lawns would be .8 ounces per gallon. You will want to keep your grass short and target your sprays towards any area that holds moisture more than another. It can also help to use an insect growth regulator with the spray to help stop the reproductive cycle of the fleas. One of the best IGRs for this would be the NyGuard IGR which can easily be mixed and sprayed at the same time with the Permethrin to be applied at the same time.
