Consumer grade weed and feed products are designed for use in home lawns, with formulas and fertilizers balanced to treat your home lawn.  Pre-emergent herbicides need to be applied at the right time of the year, when weed seeds begin germinating under the soil. This is generally when soil temperatures reach 55 degrees in the spring. Only use a pre-emergent weed and feed if the timing of fertilization coincides with the pre-emergent application for the most successful results.
