    Q
Can Pecor products be used near rivers and streams? Are these products safe for fish?
I live on a river and want to treat the yard for fleas but will this contaminate the stream? Is there a product I should use instead?
    A
Precor IGR Concentrate actually is just for use indoors for flea control. This IGR is not photostable, so it would like only last a day or two in the sun. If you need to spray within about 25 feet of a river or other aquatic area, then you can use an insecticide called Essentria IC3 for the adult fleas. This product is safe for use around aquatic areas.

    Q
Can Precor IGR Concentrate be sprayed on animals?
    A

No, Precor IGR Concentrate is not for use on animals. Precor IGR is an insect growth regulator only and will not kill fleas. For best results, Precor IGR should be tank mixed with an insecticide labeled for fleas indoors as a broadcast spray appplication such as Onslaught or FenvaStar EcoCap Insecticide.  Apply as a broadcast spray to carpets, rugs, upholstered furniture, pet resting areas and pet bedding. .

    Q
After applying Precor IGR Concentrate indoors, should we leave house for a few hours to allow the product to dry. We have a 4 month old.
    A

Yes, Precor IGR Concentrate can be used indoors with children and petsKeep kids and pets out of the treated area during the application and until the application has completely dried. This is typically within an hour or so. Spray applications should be made till surfaces are slightly damp, not overly saturated or soaked.

Keep in mind, Precor IGR Concentrate is an IGR only and not an insecticide. This will not kill fleas by itself and will need to be tank mixed with an adulticide labeled for fleas to be effective. Options for insecticides are Onslaught or FenvaStar that are labeled for broadcast applications to carpets, rugs, undersides of furniture, cushions, etc.

    Q
After mixing Precor IGR Concentrate in 1 gallon of water, can I pour some into a smaller trigger spray bottle to use in areas around the home?
    A

You should only dilute the amount of Precor IGR Concentrate that you plan to spray within about 24 hours. You do not want to leave product inside a sprayer after diluting it. You can choose to mix 1/2 oz of Precor IGR with 1/2 gal of water if you are only going to use that much product per treatment.

    Q
Once Precor is dry, is it safe for cats to eat off the floor?
I have laminated floors and vinyl tiles throughout the apartment. Every day I throw cat treats or put some treats inside cat toys so the cats get some interactive exercise. My question is, would it be safe for them to eat the treats off the floor once the solution is dry or should I mop before i give them treats like this?
    A

Precor IGR Concentrate should only be applied to cracks and crevices around rooms with hard floor surfaces, you do not need to broadcast it across the entire area as it is not very habitable for adult fleas.  You should also be vacuuming the areas thoroughly every day or at least every other day.  Keep in mind, IGR’s have no killing qualities when used alone and must be tank mixed with an insecticide labeled for fleas as an indoor application. When used as directed on the product label Precor treated areas are safe to return to once dry, typically after 1 hour inside.

    Q
Do I need to remove my fish when they spray my classroom with Precor?
    A

While Precor IGR shouldn't harm fish if used appropriately, you would need at miminum to cover the fish tank while spraying and until everything has dried and settled. If its easy to remove the fish before spraying then I would do so, but if not, just covering them with a sheet or fabric to protect from particles getting in the water or filter would be sufficient.

    Q
Will chlorinated tap water affect the effectiveness of Precor IGR Concentrate?
After reading reviews of this product, a couple people mentioned that this concentrate must be mixed with non-chlorinated water, such as distilled water. This was apparently communicated to them by the manufacturer. There was nothing along these lines included in the instructions that arrived with the concentrate. Not knowing this information at the time of application, I have sprayed my whole house using chlorinated tap water to dilute the concentrate. I'm now concerned that the product will be ineffective.
    A

The manufacturer of Precor IGR Concentrate does not recommend any specific type of water for mixing.  Regular tap water would be fine to use.

    Q
If I got the carpet wet 1 week after spraying Precor IGR Concentrate, will this take the spray away?
    A

If a bit of water touched the Precor IGR Concentrate treated area, it should be fine. It will not reactivate the product. If the carpet was steamed or shampooed, then some of the product will have been removed.

    Q
Can Precor IGR Concentrate be diluted even more to sponge "Dip" my larger lab dog so long as doesn't lick until dry?
    A

Precor IGR Concentrate should NOT be applied to animals at any dilution. It is not labeled for a safe usage. We do carry products such as Martins Flea, Tick and Mange Dip. When following the instructions on the product label for Martins Flea, Tick and Mange Dip it should not harm your dog if he licks after drying.  Sensitivities may occur after using ANY pesticide product for pets. If signs of sensitivity occur, bathe your pet with mild soap and rinse with large amounts of water. If signs continue, consult a veterinarian immediately.

    Q
Can you mix Precor IGR with boric acid ?
    A

Precor IGR Concentrate should be mixed with water only.  A boric acid product can be made separately and applied to voids, cracks and crevices, and other listed areas once the Precor application has completely dried.  Be sure to follow the label instructions for each product.

    Q
What insecticide can be used with Precor?
We recently bought a house and it turns out was infested with fleas. We had a professional come out and he used Precor but the next day (and days there after) we were still seeing fleas. What can be used in tandem with Precor and vacuuming to kill these fleas?
    A

Precor concentrate only helps stop the reproductive cycle of the fleas so if the professional only sprayed that before that is likely part of why you haven't seen a huge difference in flea numbers. If you are looking to spray inside the home you would want to use a product like Fenvastar Ecocap to mix with the precor and spray floors, baseboards, crevices, rugs and any other areas where fleas may be present. Once you spray the mixture of those two products down, let them dry completely before you or any pets or children re-enter the home. You will want to continue vacuuming every other day for 14 days and then on the 14th day you will do a reapplication of the same two products. You should not be spraying any more frequently than once every 14 days for flea control. The products will continue to work and slowly kill them out over time. If you have pets in the home make sure they are treated with a flea topical or collar and the outdoor areas around the home they frequent are treated as well.

    Q
Can I use Precor IGR Concentrate more than recommended time on label?
Why is it not recommended to spray the product more than once every 14 days? The label says that methoprene deteriorates in sunlight, so if a room cannot be prevented from getting direct sunlight part of the day, would it be okay to reapply the product sooner?
    A

Precor IGR Concentrate should only be applied once every two weeks per the label instructions. We do not recommend treating more than what is listed on the label.

    A

Yes, you can mix Precor IGR with an insecticide, such as Diazanon. Be sure to follow the labeled rates for each product, and keep animals out of the area while the products are being applied. Once the product has dried completely, it is safe for animals to return to the area.

    Q
Can mix Precor IGR with Talstar P in a gallon sprayer for indoor use?
    A

Precor IGR Concentrate can be mixed with insecticides such as Talstar P.  Though Talstar P cannot be used as a broadcast across interior surfaces such as carpet or hard flooring, it is only for cracks and crevices inside.  If you are treating for fleas and need to treat carpets a better option would be Onslaught or Conquer.

    Q
Can I put an IGR product in my carpet cleaner vacuum?
I have a light carpet cleaner vacuum. It leaves a small amount of water in the carpet as does most carpet vacs. Hence the need to allow them to dry 1-3 hours. Would this be ok, for it would really force the product through out the carpet? If so, hot or cold water?
    A

Precor IGR Concentrate or any other IGR cannot be used in carpet cleaner machines.  They are meant to be used in pump sprayers or other approved equipment only.
