    Q
How long after spreading granular fertilizer (Scotts Turfbuilder), do I have to wait to spray Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade)5?
    A

You can typically apply a pre emergent such as Prodiamine 65 WDG the same day or the following day as a fertilizer application as long as they do not have competing use instructions regarding watering in after treatment and they do not contain the same active ingredient as a pree-emergent.

    Q
Early spring application using Prodiamine 65 WDG after Fall Overseed?
I overseeded and aerated my lawn in mId October. I would like to use Prodiamine for crabgrass pre-emergent in Early to Mid March (before 55*f soil temp). Would I inhibit the dormant grass seed by putting down the Prodiamine? Should I use Tenacity instead?
    A

Per the product label for Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade): Injury to desirable seedlings is likely if Quali-Pro Prodiamine 65 WDG is applied before the secondary roots of seedlings are in the second inch of soil (not thatch plus soil). To reduce the potential to injure overseeded turf, wait 60 days after seeding or until after the second mowing, whichever is longer, before applying Quali-Pro Prodiamine 65 WDG. If you overseeded in October, March is plenty of time to apply the Prodiamine.

    Q
Can you spray Prodiamine 65 WDG on Bermuda grass that was planted last year?
The Bermuda grass is Cheyenne two and was planted last June
    A

As long as the grass has become established and been mowed at least 2-3 times then you would be safe to apply a pre emergent such as Prodiamine 65 WDG to it for weed prevention this spring.

    Q
Would Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) be effective to kill Oxalis (yellow) on Bermudagrass?
Would Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) be effective to kill Oxalis (yellow) on Bermudagrass? If yes, is it only effective as a Pre-emergent? Which would be the best oxalis killing post-emergent for Bermuda?
    A

Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) would be effective at preventing oxalis however it does not kill existing weeds as it is a pre emergent only. Ferti-lome Weed Free Zone is labeled to be used in Bermuda for yellow oxalis. For common Bermuda grass, you can apply 1-2 oz per 1000 square feet. Please look over the product label for detailed application instructions.

    Q
Should I reapply Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) if I forgot to water it in?
I decided to go with Three split applications of Prodiamine 65 this year. I applied my first treatment as my soil temperature began to approach 55F. It's been over a month without any rain and I realized that I forgot to water in the product. My current soil temperatures are slowly approaching 60F and weeds are beginning to sprout. Is it safe to reapply this product now and should I adjust my other split applications because of this? My St. Augustine is still dormant at this stage.
    A

Ideally, Prodiamine 65 WDG should be watered in within 7 days of application. You should reapply if it has been longer than one week. Be sure that you do not exceed the annual maximum amount of product for your type of turfgrass.

The application timing of Prodiamine 65 WDG will vary according to the exact weeds you are targeting and your specific region. We recommend contacting your local extension office to confirm the right application timing for your area. We do have a Lawn Care Schedule on our site with general time frames that may also be helpful.

    Q
What is the recommended rate for Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) to treat 3585 sq ft of bermudagrass lawn for crabgrass and poa annua (annual bluegrass) weed control? I am located in Northern Texas and using a 2 gallon sprayer.
    A

On Bermudagrass you can use up to 2.3 lbs of Prodiamine 65 WDG per acre per year, which breaks down to 0.83 oz per 1000 sq ft. You can split up this amount into as many applications as needed. So if you are doing applications in Spring and in Fall, then your maximum rate at those times is 1.15 lbs/A (0.415 oz/1000 sq ft).

For Poa Annua (annual bluegrass) prevention: Applications in late summer or early fall before just before soil temperatures reach 70 degrees.

For Crabgrass prevention: Applications in late Winter/early Spring before soil temperatures reach 55 degrees to prevent crabgrass. In a warm place like Texas, you will probably want one application in late Feb or March and then a second application 6-8 weeks later. If you are doing this, then you would lower that Spring rate to 0.2 oz per 1000 sq ft.

You can use this online tool to check soil temperatures for your area at any time.

    Q
Will Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) be good to use on freshly made berms down my 1/4 mile driveway?
I'm looking for a preemergent to use in landscaping beds as well as down the sides of our new driveway. Also for use in the stone driveway.
    A

Snapshot DG Herbicide would be an excellent product to use in the berms once any new plants are established, and Prodiamine 65 WDG would be an excellent product to use in your turf. Be sure to check the product label to ensure that the weeds you are controlling are listed on the label.

The best and longest-lasting pre-emergent herbicide to use around areas like a gravel driveway where you do not want any plants to grow would be a vegetation management product like Martin's TVC Total Vegetation Management. This product will prevent any plant growth in those areas for up to 1 year. Just be sure not to apply in a way that would run off or contact the roots of desirable plants/turf since this product last for so long. If you have existing weeds in the gravel areas, then you can use RoundUp QuikPro to spot treat and kill any existing plants.

    Q
Can you apply Prodiamine 65 WDG when a cicada brood infestation is expected?
I live in an area where a 17 year brood of cicadas is expected to emerge mid May and last through June. Will there emergence impact the vapor barrier of pre-emergents like prodiamine?
    A

We are not aware of any studies that have been performed to see how the emergence of sub surface insects such as cicadas would impact a pre emergent barrier with Prodiamine 65 over time. While any disturbance in the barrier can create a weak spot, we couldn't determine how greatly or minimally the residual would be impacted. You may find a follow up application 8 weeks after your first spring treatment of the pre emergent will help reinforce the barrier and extend its life further into the growing season.

How long does Prodiamine 65 WDG prevent grassy weeds?
Using a granular treatment in April, will I get coverage through August? In New England
    A

How long Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade) will last will depend upon the rate of product used per area which depends on your turfgrass type and program you want to follow.   It can last between 3-8 months.  Please refer to the product label for complete information.

    Q
Would I be able to apply Prodiamine 65 WDG on my hay fields?
I have some small hay fields that have a big foxtail problem and want to get it under control without killing everything. Would I be able to feed the hay if I sprayed with this product
    A

Since Prodiamine 65 WDG is not labeled for use where animals graze or around animal facilities, we would not recommend using this product on feed hay. We would recommend waiting at least one year before allowing animals to graze in areas treated with this product. You may consider Prowl H2O Herbicide as a pre-emergent for foxtail in established pastures.

    Q
Is there a wait time on core aeration after using Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade)?
    A

Typically you want to aerate before you apply any pre-emergents such as Prodiamine 65 WDG (Generic Barricade). Once you apply the pre-emergent, if you aerate you break the barrier of the application which can allow new weeds to germinate.

    Q
Why is Prodiamine turning into a play doe like substance in my mixing tank? It's clogging up my strainer.
    A

We have not heard of Prodiamine 65 WDG turning into playdoh substance.  We believe there might have been some sort of residual left over from previous application that was not compatible with prodiamine. On the product label page 6 explains mixing components can cause sludge or gels to congeal. Also, it could have not been mixed properly. Large tanks are supposed to have an agitator when using this product.

    Q
Can I go and spray Celsius WG tomorrow (after Prodiamine 65 WDG) to kill the weeds that are already growing?
I just sprayed Prodiamine 65 WDG down as my pre-emergent in Marietta, GA (Zone 7).
    A

We recommend you wait 3 days between the applications of Prodiamine 65 WDG and other herbicides to avoid over-stressing your turf.
