General Product Information:

  • Newest low profile, ready-to-use trap specially designed to capture fruit flies
  • This versatile trap has a patented food grade attractant that readily attracts several species of fruit fly
  • Trap efficacy is further enhanced by the orange-colored plastic with a specially selected chemical composition used for the trap base and lid
  • The Vector Fruit Fly Trap is engineered with 10-hole venting lid to optimize fruit fly exposure to the vapors emitted from the liquid attractant
  • The lid is removable for easy monitoring and identification of catch

Vector 960 Fruit Fly Trap Activation Instructions:

  1. Activate Vector 960 Fruit Fly Trap by pulling the cellophane wrapper off the base of the trap exposing the food grade attractant. Be careful not to spill the liquid attractant.
  2. Snap the 10-hole venting cap onto the base and place trap as described below

Vector 960 Fruit Fly Trap Placement and Use:

  1. Place the traps in areas where Fruit Flies have been seen. Place the traps where they will not be disturbed or tipped.
  2. Avoid placing traps over food preparation areas or exposed food to minimize fruit fly activity and attraction in this area. These areas also have a high degree of human activity, which increases the chance that the trap will be tipped or knocked out of position.
  3. Use supplied glue dots to secure the trap in place.
  4. Remove the lid to count the number of adults in the trap. If there are a large number of captured flies in a single trap, you may want to strain the liquid for ease of counting.
  5. Record trap counts on a site map.
  6. Discard traps after 30-days of use and replace with new traps.

Common Use Areas:

Traps are most effective when placed near breeding sites. Place behind or under bars, beverage centers, dishwashers, food displays, food service islands, sinks, ovens, supply racks, vending machines, food preparation tables, etc.

NOTE: Fruit Flies will gravitate toward decaying food odors so it is important to discard all food peels and food materials to minimize fruit fly activity in production areas.

    Amazing!

    By Sheree on 07/16/2007

I don't think we had fruit flies. They must have been a type of filth fly like a Phorid Fly or something like that. They were very small. They had accumulated from a trash bag that was left in the garage. It seems like hundreds got in our home when the door to the garage was left open. I purchased a couple of the Vector 960 Fruit Fly Traps and put 1 in the kitchen and 1 outside by the trash. Within 5 days, they had all disappeared. The small orange containers were full of little flies. I was amazed.

    Okay

    By Jen on 06/03/2010

Worked well for the first few weeks. Then it stopped working completely.

    Expert ResponseExpert response:
These traps do a great job of catching fruit flies, but the key to stopping fly activity is to find the source.  If you do not get rid of the source of the problem, then these traps will only work for a short time.  The traps will only attract for 30 days, then you need to put new ones out.  The key however is to find the source of the problem.  It could be rotting food behind something, or the flies could be something else, like drain flies or fungus gnats.

Go-to Product for Fruit Fly Infestations!

    By Elizabeth on 10/24/2010

    Verified Purchase

I have bought these fly traps for the past 3 years. We seem to get fruit flies every year and they are horrible. Once I put these traps out, the problem is eliminated in two days at most. The Vector traps are fantastic!

    Great Product, FAST shipment.

    By Pacnorwest on 11/17/2010

Our order arrived very fast. We purchased two of the fruit fly traps and put them out right away. Within a day we noticed a significant decrease and after four days all the fruit flies were gone with none reappearing. Be advised you do have to find the source or they are not going to be all that effective. We found a piece of fruit in our office trash can and that was our source! We will definitely order these again if needed and from this company.

Not extremely happy with these, they don't seem to be as thourough as other brands and leave a strong odor from the solution inside the traps.

Q
Are the Vector 960 Fruit Fly Traps safe to use around pets and children?
A
Yes. The Vector 960 Fruit Fly Traps can be safely used around children and pets. There is no actual poison in the trap, just a fruity, vinegary smelling liquid that the fruit flies are attracted to. Once inside the trap, the fruit flies cannot get out. Traps should still be placed in areas that are inaccessible to children to avoid spills.
