Product Overview

Chapin 4 Gallon 20V Lithium Black And Decker Battery Backpack Sprayer - Model 63980 makes spraying your liquid pest control products with a sense of ease. With the 20V lithium battery, powered by Black & Decker, it will provide 1.75 hours of constant spraying on one charge. Weighing at a mere 9.8 lbs, it is 6 lbs less than competiting backpack sprayers. This sprayer is topped with a 6" wide mouth cap which allows for easy filling - making product application effortless. Thanks to having a reliable power source, the product can constantly spray at up to 35 PSI, allowing it to spray up to 35 feet away. It will provide 50 gallons of spraying in one charge. Built with Chapin's 63800 Pro Series tank assembly, Viton seals and gaskets, Chapin 20V Lithium Backpack Sprayer is one of the best sprayers on the market.

IMPORTANT INFO ON BATTERY:

Do not store the battery on the sprayer. Be sure the power switch is turned off and the battery is detached from the sprayer when not in use.
Do not allow the battery to completely drain its charge. If the battery completely dies, then you will not be able to recharge it.
You can store the battery on the charger and recharge it from a partial charge with no adverse effects on the battery.

This sprayer is the same sprayer as Chapin 4 Gallon 20v Wide Mouth Backpack Sprayer 63985 except for the lid color and writing on the front.

    Totally worthless

    By James on 06/19/2018

    Verified Purchase

Not one star, but ZERO stars! Unfortunately, the review program would not let me submit unless I gave it at least one star. However, if I could give negative stars, I would give it a negative 5. The Chapin Backpack 4 gallon sprayer (63980) I received from DoMyOwn is totally worthless. It leaks profusely at the bottom. Once the sprayer is turned on it pumps more liquid out the bottom (around where the battery is installed) than it sprays out the nozzle. In fact, 2.5 gallons of liquid insecticide lasted only 5 minutes as it literally spewed the liquid out the bottom leaving huge puddles while hardly spraying anything from the nozzle. This was a total waste of money!!! The only positive note is that the battery is a keeper as I have other Black and Decker 20 volt products that I can use the battery for. The sprayer is going out for trash pickup tomorrow - I'm keeping the battery. Considering the $130 price tag, that's a lot to spend and only receive a battery. The rest is trash.

    Expert ResponseExpert response:
I'm sorry that you are having trouble with your sprayer. I see one purchased from us in May of 2017. Since this is outside our 90 day window, you would need to work with Chapin directly to correct any issues with the sprayer. There are some troubleshooting tips regarding leaks on page 9E of the product manual here: https://www.domyown.com/msds/m_63985.pdf Based on the general area, it appears you may just need to tighten a clamp and/or replace an o-ring. We always recommend contacting Chapin for assistance with leaks or other concerns if you are unable to fix the issue. You can reach them at 800-950-4458. The replacement o-ring kit for this sprayer can be found here (if needed): https://www.domyown.com/chapin-replacement-discharge-repair-kit-for-backpack-sprayers-68153-p-11406.... Please let us know if we can further assist you.

    Black and Decker Backpack

    By C. on 08/10/2015

This unit will not spray more than 30 min. on a charge. A long way from the 1.75 hours advertised. Pack fits well and the unit is well balanced. the wand does not hold up well in the heat of s. NV

Sprayer is light. works well but battery is awkward

    By Jeffrey on 06/25/2016

    Verified Purchase

My unit came and the motor was poorly installed. It was crooked and the battery would not slip on. Pretty poor quality control. I took it apart and re-positioned it. Took about 10 minutes. Annoying but it's okay now. I'm happy it has a brass nozzle. Those plastic ones are awful. Just awful. It is very light. The top is sturdy and has a handle built in which is a great idea when you don't want it on your back like for spraying under a deck. It does not shoot as far as i thought it would. I fully charged the battery and it goes about 12 feet. Horizontal. I'd like to know how the other reviewer got 30 feet high! I left the battery on accidentally and it died over night. Charge is not a fast charge IMO. No where does it say how long the charge is and I didn't pay attention the first time other than i know it was hours. I'm going to search for a replacement battery so I have two. I wonder if they make a larger battery to get a little more power out of it that fits. It would be nice if they said what battery line fits this sprayer. All in all this sprayer is so much better than a pump sprayer. The motor and battery add negligible weight and it's very simple to use. I'm glad i bought it.

    backpack sprayer

    By Steve on 09/03/2015

So far have used it twice. NO PUMPING like on my other backpack sprayer!! Just carry around and squeeze the trigger. Pretty comfortable.. Did not get five stars only for lack of sufficient padding on the shoulder straps.

Nice but strap buckle broke on first job

    By Jeff on 09/04/2016

This makes spraying a lot easier - almost fun. The battery lasted two full containers and still had enough left to flush fresh water. My issue is the strap. The front chest level plastic buckle failed on my first job. The plastic side of the buckle actually broke and let the straps out. I patched it together and completed. Then I ordered a commercial grade strap designed for the Solo. It works well. Without the buckle issue, this would get 5 stars from me.
