Product Overview

The Indoor Ant Bait Kit includes 2 professional strength baits for the treatment of most ants commonly found indoors, including little black ants, carpenter ants, odorous house ants and more.

This do-it-yourself ant treatment kit uses the convenience of bait plate stations and the attractiveness of two unique baits to fill the dietary needs of most household ants. Ants looking for sweets will consume Advion Ant Gel, and ants seeking protein will consume Maxforce Complete Granular Bait. Both baits have slow-acting active ingredients that allow ants to continue their routine activities for some time before succumbing to the effects, so ants have time to transfer active ingredients throughout the colony. Because ants continue to return with food, the colony does not know there is a problem until after the bait has already spread. Results are seen in as little as 6 hours, and colonies are usually gone within a few days (colony size will determine length of treatment).

As with all of our Pest Control Kits, we recommend using an Integrated Pest Management approach to ant control. It is crucial to practice good sanitation by eliminating competing food and water sources, and to eliminate harborage and entrance points to keep ants from entering the structure.

Before applying any insecticides, it is important to inspect and to prepare the treatment area. Practice good sanitation by eliminating food and water sources that may compete with the baits you are about to apply. Also find ways to seal up and eliminate access points into the structure. These steps will help not only to treat an existing infestation, but also to prevent future problems. Once you have identified the hot spots where ants are entering or trailing indoors, you are ready to use the products in your Indoor Ant Kit.

How to Apply the Indoor Ant Kit

Bait Plate Stations, Maxforce Complete Granular Bait, Advion Ant Bait Gel

*Handle bait stations with clean, dry hands or wear gloves. Avoid handling bait with bare hands as this may make baits less palatable.

*Your kit includes a set of 12 bait station bases, 12 lids, and 12 glue dots. Pull apart the stacks to separate the components. Each base is a tray with two ridged channels so that you can use two different baits in each bait plate station.

*To apply the Maxforce Complete Granular Bait, first unscrew the top to remove the seal under the cap. Then flip open the “spoon” side of the cap and use a dedicated or disposable tool such as a plastic spoon to scoop a small amount of the bait granules into each station. Use 0.5 oz. (1 Tablespoon) of bait in one side only of each bait plate station you plan to set out. (Keep the other channel empty for the gel bait.)

*Be sure to store bait in a cool, dry place with the lid securely closed.

*To apply the Advion Ant Bait Gel, first gently unscrew the solid blue tip of the tube you would like to use. Replace this tip with one of the long clear or blue reusable tips included with your kit. Use either a bait gun or the included plastic plunger to gently expel the gel from the tube, similar to using a syringe. (You may need to pull back gently on the plunger to prevent over-application.) Place a spot of bait about the size of a pea in the other side of each bait plate stations you plan to use.

*When you are done applying the Advion Ant Bait Gel, replace the long plastic tip with the smaller solid tip to store bait.

*After you have filled your bait plate station trays, snap a lid onto each one by lining up the U-shaped tab and the round tab with the corresponding parts in the tray. Gently press the edges of the lid until it is firmly snapped into the tray, being careful not to tilt the trays, which may cause granule bait to spill. It is not necessary to remove the perforated tab from the bait plate station lids.

*You should place bait in areas where ant activity has been noticed. It is important to avoid purposefully putting the bait in the middle of an ant trail or onto the ants themselves: this will make the ants avoid the bait and make the baiting ineffective. Instead, put the bait near ant activity or next to ant trails. Some examples of places where the bait can be placed are:

  • In kitchen cabinets and on counter tops.
  • Behind, next to, and under the stove.
  • Near sinks or drains
  • Around pipes, cords, and cables that come out of the wall.
  • Behind and under bathroom fixtures.
  • Around the medicine cabinet and vanity.

*You should check the bait placements once a week and replenish as needed until ant activity has ceased. Be sure to continue reapplying bait as long as the ants accept it!

*Store baits in a dry, temperate area, out of direct sunlight. Baits are best used within a year of opening.

*Bait stations may be wiped clean and washed with warm water for reuse later. Do not use fragrant cleaners, as this may make future bait applications unattractive.

    Buy this kit!

    By Kimberly on 09/01/2023

I cannot recommend this enough. We had ants, I tried everything for a month to avoid chemicals. I ordered this non express. It arrived 20 hours later. The ants feasted for one day. Gone for a month. Had a recurrence. Left a brownie putt in the kitchen. Put products in traps, in and out of the house. Boom! Gone again in one day!

    It Works!

    By Debka on 04/07/2023

I had an invasion of small black ants. Tried the "other" brands. Didn't work. When I put down the Indoor Ant Bait, they were gone in two days and have not returned. Happy, happy, happy!

    Fast results… with some mods

    By Steve on 05/20/2023

Set up both the gel and granules in the bait stations. It seemed like the ants (small carpenter) were not finding the bait so I put the gel on some small paperboard squares (like the printed side of a cereal box). It didn't take them long to find it then - maybe 10 minutes. After that, they were feeding completely around the drops of gel (no room for another ant). Within a week I noticed the activity significantly decline and by the end of the second week there were no more ants. Within the two week period, I don't think I ever saw an ant in any of the plastic bait stations even though there was gel bait in there too. Very effective and will use again.

Q
Freshness of products in the Indoor Ant Bait Kit?

how to tell howold the product is.

A

Each product in the Indoor Ant Bait Kit will have a Lot # stamped on the gel bait tubes or container.  A lot of manufacturers have moved away from a "manufactured or release date" on their products and now use the Lot # to correspond with the production of that product. Baits have a shelf life of 2-3 years from their production date when stored in a cool dry environment and out of extreme temperatures.

For the Advion, the first 3 letters will usually be "ABW" which can be ignored as this corresponds to the facility the batch was produced in. The next number is for the last digit of the year it was produced. For 2023 this would be ABW3. To indicate the month, the letter after the year in the code would be in alphabetical order if January = A, February = B. So a Lot of ABW8B would be produced in February of 2023.

If you can provide us the Lot # which will be a series of letters/numbers or both, we are happy to advise on the production date or you can contact the manufacturers directly.
