    Q
Can PT Alpine Flea & Bed Bug or Insecticide aerosols be used to treat hard scale on orchids?
I have multiple indoor orchids & have been fighting a losing battle with hard scale for years using contact sprays. I would like to try a systemic insecticide like dinotefuran. Can the above aerosol products be used in place of Safari 20SG Systemic Insecticide, which is much more expensive, for this?
    A

PT Alpine Flea and Bed Bug Aerosol is not labeled for this use and would not be recommended.  While we understand the wish to use a cheaper alternative over the Safari 20SG, products that contain the same active do not always work the same and if not labeled to be used as a systemic would not work as one.  You can also use Bonide Systemic Granules Insect Control, which is labeled for all houseplants, both indoors and outdoors. You will need to use 2.5 tbsp. per gallon of water.

    Q
What is the best indoor flea treatment that can be used on carpets and is safe for cats?
We have a horrible flea infestation problem and need to get a product that we can mix to do all of the carpets. Bombing is not an option as we have many cats. We plan to include a igr also. The product we use should not be toxic to cats once it is dry as they lay on the carpet.
    A
Alpine Flea Insecticide Aerosol with IGR which is one of the safest professional grade flea sprays for use indoors and was recently classified as a reduced risk product by the EPA. It provides excellent control of fleas and contains an IGR as well, which prevents adult fleas from being able to lay eggs, eventually halting the flea reproductive cycle.

  • Asked by Tara from Plains, Pa

    Q
Can I use cleaner on PT Alpine Flea and Bed Bug Aerosol treated areas?
My cat had an accident on the floor. I read a previous answer that if wet it will not reconstitute but I may have to use a cleaner on the rug. Will I have to spray the flea spray again? How often can you use the Alpine Flea Spray?
    A

Cleaning a treated area will remove the residual.  If you are treating for an active infestation of fleas using PT Alpine Flea and Bedbug Aerosol, a second treatment and more vacuuming should be done exactly 14 days after the first treatment for best results. For bad flea infestations, treatment may need to extend to 4 or more treatments (14 days a part). After that, treatments can be done every 30 days as needed for maintenance.

    Q
Does PT Alpine Flea and Bed Bug Aerosol kill bedbugs and bedbug eggs?
    A

PT Alpine Flea and Bed Bug Aerosol is labeled to kill adult bed bugs and bed bugs when they hatch, but it is not labeled for bed bugs eggs. A product like Bedlam Insecticide Aerosol would be a better option when also targeting bed bugs eggs. This product is labeled to kill all stages of bedbugs including eggs.

    Q
Unidentified insect. Very small, round, black blood thirsty creatures.
These little guys jump and seem to disappear. I have dead ones from using your product. After 9 treatments they things are biting me as I type this message (I used your product again last evening). Their size is unbelievably small, just larger than a needle point. Please advise...
    A

We recommend that you get a proper identification of the insect you are dealing with.  You should collect several samples of the insect and contact your local cooperative extension office to get an insect identification. Starting a treatment program without knowing exactly what you are dealing with is likely to lead to a treatment failure. Once you have a proper identification we would be happy to help advise you of the correct treatment.
