    Q
Will PyGanic Crop Protection EC 1.4 II harm butterflies and bees?
    A
PyGanic Crop Protection EC 1.4 II contains pyrethrin as the active ingredient. Pyrethin is a non-selective insecticide which means that any insect that is contacted with the insecticide will be killed. You can help limit this effect by only applying the product when bees and butterflies are not currently visiting the area that needs to be treated.

    Q
can this product be used as a "drench" for severe ant infestation in garden beds
Raised bed have all become giant ant nests as organic weed barriers have decomposed. Ants infest and destroy vegetables and some flowers.
    A

PyGanic Crop Protection EC 1.4 II label states for Commercial production of listed crops to kill listed insects dilute 0.9 to 1.8 fl. oz. of Pyganic Crop Protection EC 1.4II per gallon of water. Apply diluted solution with all types of agricultural sprayers, including compressed air sprayers or pump driven sprayers. It is not labeld to be used as a soil drench application and we recommend contacting the manufacturer MGK directly at 800-645-6466 for more information.

The Outdoor Ant Kit is certified Organic Food Crop Compliant and meets USDA National Organic Program Standards. This would be a good alternative option rather than treating your crops directly.

  • Asked by Matt from Bend, Oregon

    Q
Does Pyganic Crop Protection EC 1.4 kill russet mites?
    A

Pyganic Crop Protection EC 1.4 is not specifically labeled for control of russet mites so we cannot say for sure, although there is a chance it could control them due to pyrethrin being an all around contact kill ingredient for most insects. Avid 0.15 EC Miticide is labeled for russet mites and a variety of other species and is one of our top go to products or mite control by our customers. You will want to look at the label to make sure it can be used for your needs.

    Q
Do you need a surfactant with PyGanic Crop Protection EC 1.4 II?
    A

It is not required to use a surfactant when spraying PyGanic Crop Protection EC 1.4 II, however it is allowed. It is recommended to test a small number of plants for phytoxicity for 10 days when using PyGanic Crop Protection with new surfactants, adjuvants, or other tank mixes for the first time. Keep in mind, also, that it is recommended that the final spray mix be adjusted to a pH of 5.5 to 7.0. Outside of this range, pyrethrins can degrade and the product will lose its effectiveness. Please refer to the product label for complete application instructions.
