Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide will not kill armyworms. It is a selective post-emergent herbicide that targets listed weeds in established listed turfgrasses as directed.
For Armyworms, please review the Armyworms Product Page for liquid and granule insecticide options and the Armyworm Treatment Guide for more information.
Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide is not labeled for use on Timothy grass, and also cannot be used in any grazing areas or on hay that would be consumed by animals. This is only for residential lawn and certain commercial area applications. Unfortunately there are no sedge products that are labeled for grazing or hay areas that we are aware of on the market. It often must be spot treated repeatedly with roundup or similar material.
Q4 Plus can be used on both cool and warm season turfgrasses (bermuda and zoysiagrass only) For Bemuda and Zoysiagrass, the mix rate is 5 to 7 pints/acre or 1.8 to 2.6 fl oz per 1000 sq ft.
Please view the full product label for more information.
Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide has a musty odor.
Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide is not labeled for Heath Rush. We would recommend talking to your local extension office on the best herbicide to treat for this weed and their recommendations as there are no university extension articles on effective weed control on this species either.
Spring transition is when warm season lawns are most sensitive and can be injured by post emergent herbicide applications. During this time it would be best to spot treat weeds directly with Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide vs broadcasting across the entire lawn to prevent injury.
Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide is safe for Bermuda, just do not apply it while it is transitioning. Keep in mind that Q4 will not work if soil temperatures are below 55 degrees for weeds listed on the product label.
We recommend waiting about two weeks or more after applying Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide before you aerate or dethatch the lawn. This is to allow enough time for the target plants to die completely before you dig up their roots.
The application rate of Q4 Plus Turf Herbicide varies depending on what type of truf grass you have. Cool Season Grasses: 2.6 - 3 oz. per 1,000 sq. ft. (7 - 8 pints per acre) Warm Season Grasses: 1.8 - 2.6 oz. per 1,000 sq. ft. (5 - 7 pints per acre)
Repeat treatments can be done at 30 days but you are limited to 2 broadcast applications a year but you can spot treat up to the max rate per area per year as directed on the product label.
